What did he mean by that?
Does the PGA run this whole thing? Does the PGA pick the course? Does the PGA set up the course and choose hole placements?
Does he have a beef with the PGA? Seems so, based on this.
Just read the scale and think one of the clubs i’m a new member of would be 8 - maybe 9. The other my home course a 6. The higher one has recently been restored somewhat by Tom Doak so I assume he’d like it.
A couple of advice issues that merit underlining, IMO:
1) 1.3c(4)/3 advises clearly that asking what the wind direction is constitutes advice. I don't recall seeing such a clear statement prior to 2019.
2) Advice comes in three flavours - a key observation that is somewhat buried in Advice/2 above. The flavours relate to a) choosing a club b) how to make a stroke and c) how to play a hole. So if you say "Wow, is that wind into our face? Do I need to play a low, punch shot?", then congratulations, you have collected 4SP.
Ernie said this stuff at the desk. It’s at about 7:41 in my recording, well after the matches were over. After the closing ceremony, etc.
He said they needed to be “away” from the PGA Tour and a bit more.
