I never asked the doctor, just went ahead with them. I would think that is the same for most. Can a doctor know how people will deal with the shot?

If they know your medical condition and other drugs you take they may have better info.  My friend has a specific illness and is on a lot of meds and her doctor told her not to take it.  I am considering that specific advice for her situation.

And yes, her condition does involve her immune system, among other things.

I also didn't consult any doctor;  as soon as I was eligible, I went and got the vaccine (fun story:  both times I had to drive to the nearby city of Corona due to availability).  But if I had some medical conditions, especially any related to my immune system, I'd probably at least have asked my primary care physician first.

Yes, for certain conditions it would be good. I was avid to get it as soon as I could. Pfizer Jan 20 and Feb 11.

Maybe, want I specifically meant was this is valuable info. A vaccinated individual severely sick from the Delta V. Also, I listened to her when Tampa had their home games. I enjoyed her rendition of our great National Anthem.

Vaccines reduce the risk of a severe case. That was stated clearly by the FDA and CDC. They don’t eliminate the risk. No vaccine does absolutely nothing to protect you. You are only relying on your own immune response. 610,000 so far didn’t have a good enough immune system. Millions more had severe cases and lived with many suffering life changing side effects. The Delta variant is worse. Anyone not getting vaxxed now is a complete and utter irresponsible moron.

If I were to voice my opinion in front of those who chose not to get the vaccine I would probably say 'very foolish'. For these type of people it probably takes someone dying in their family that is real close to change their mind. I rather doubt harsh language will do the trick.

I saw a clip on the news a few nights ago.  They interviewed a mom whose young son contracted Covid-19.  He suffered tremendously, almost didn't make it... weeks and weeks of recovery.  He pulled through with a lot of long term Covid issues still ongoing.  The reporter asked the mom is she would now get the vaccine herself.  Her response was firm and fast, "Nope!"

It may be a bit off-topic, but that is how a lot of decisions are made these days. People have such a biased opinion that they closed their mind to any other ideas.

A friend of ours, son, just came out of an induced coma. 9 weeks. He contracted Covid before he had a chance to get vaccinated. Bad timing for him.

49 years old , A third degree practicing black belt (Kyokashin 1)and one of the fittest men I know.

He is sitting up and breathing on his own. Long term effects to him. Unknown.

Long term effects of the covid vaccine. Unknown.

I took my chances on a double Pfizer. I was trying to cut down on the possibility of a covid coma.

It’s not valuable. It’s expected.

Vaccines don’t really ever have “long term effects except continuing to protect you. We understand immune response pretty well and you have none of the vaccine in your body after a short while.

Then it was valuable, if it prompted you to give such a valuable response! I'm not sure what the sun rising in the East has to do with it but whatever.

No, it wasn't. It shared nothing we didn't already know.

Things that make you go, "Hmmmm...".

A recent Gallop Pole (June 7th)

Seventy-six percent of U.S. adults report they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or plan to be. One in five adults who do not plan to get vaccinated say they are at least somewhat likely to change their mind.

Quote

Reasons for Not Getting Vaccinated Vary

Gallup's March and April COVID-19 surveys found no dominant reason among vaccine-reluctant individuals for their intention not to get vaccinated. The most common reasons given were wanting to confirm the vaccine was safe (23%) and a belief they would not get seriously ill from the virus (20%). Slightly fewer expressed concerns about the timeline for developing the vaccine (16%) or mistrust of vaccines in general (16%). Ten percent said they already have immunity because they have had COVID-19, while 10% cite allergies or concern about allergies as the reason they do not plan to get vaccinated.

Basically its still

1) How safe is the vaccine
2) They don't believe they will get seriously ill from the vaccine
3) How fast the vaccine was pushed through (lump this into vaccine safety)
4) Anti-Vaccines
5) They already got COVID and don't see the need to get the vaccine
6) Pre-existing medical condition concerns.
