It’s a different US Open due to the pandemic. First, they are playing in December which is usually the off season. Also, because on limited daylight, they are playing two courses on Thursday and Friday, Champions Golf Club Cypress Creek and Jack Rabbit, both in Houston.

Learning two courses is a challenge. It should be fun to watch though.

May have to watch some of this, particularly with the Buckeye game getting canceled and my fantasy teams in line for a major butt-kicking.

Think I pull for Kerr after that accident. Plus, she's damn near as old as I am. Beat those whipper-snappers.

The range is too small for a full field, so they're hitting from both ends and the wall is to stop balls from rolling up.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Jing Yan was docked two shots after being late to her tee time Thursday at the U.S. Women's Open.

I don't get it.  I would be on the tee at least 10 min before my tee time.

Bones Mackay just said something dumb when talking up Christie Kerr’s putting. He said, “I’d rather be the best putter on Tour than the best ball striker”. Phil didn’t win those majors with putting. He didn’t putt out of the pine straw on 13 at the Masters. Geez.

Sad… learn, people. Learn.

It's such a stark contrast between the streaming coverage of men's and women's events. There is like 1-2 hours a day max, whereas the men's event, there are like 3-4 streams, each practically all day.

This has been a good competition. Today they did not allow clean and place and there were a lot of mud balls shots. There were two amateurs in the last group that held their own. Tomorrow should be fun. I’m pulling for Megan Khang because she’s from the Boston area. Also pulling for Christy Kerr because she’d the oldest player and she was in a crash last Sunday.

Streaming, maybe. They were "covered" for like eight hours today, no?

I watched two hours on Golf Channel (recorded) and have a five-hour recording going now.

I’m enjoying watching the coverage, especially since it’s ad-free.

I heard that remark you mentioned. Dumb. It’s not the first though. Paige also made a dumb remark when she said that regarding the men’s game and the women’s game, one wasn’t better than they other; she said they were just “different.” How does she figure that? The women playing in the USWO are the best female golfers in the world, but we all know the best golfers in the world play on the PGA Tour. I get pushing women’s sports to some degree. It’s no different than pushing any other product, but let’s not be so hyperbolic to say that their level of play is anywhere near the men’s game and that is it is just “different.” If it was, people would give a crap and tune in. We wouldn’t need cries for support or trendy hashtags of “empowerment.” People hardly even watch the lower men’s tours let alone the top women’s tour, largely because the level of play simply isn’t as good.

It’s still good golf. The men are longer and hit harder shots, but I enjoy it.

I agree. Me too. My only issue lies in the statements saying that the games are just “different.” That’s not true. The men’s game is objectively better.

The women are certainly better than me! I enjoy watching as the longer hitters play a perfect version of my own game that I aspire to and will never reach haha. For instance, Olsen has around 149 mph ball speed, I’m a low to mid 150s guy, and yet she makes her living playing golf while I sit at a desk. I just enjoy watching, as I mentioned, a perfect version of my speed level. It’s inspiring to me, and they’re better to look at too.

Physically the men are better. The announcers seem to just want to fill airspace. But I’m enjoying this. I like the fact that the USGA did not invoke clean and place even with mud balls. It made it more random!

Ah, should have clarified. I was looking at it from the USGA website POV. Well, actually the USGA created a separate website for the Men's US Open, but on that website, loads of streaming.
