Added two more pars on Tuesday. Had some looks at birdie, but could not convert. Hoping to post some negative numbers soon!

So the only one left is 10 and I’ve had looks the last 3 rounds. Today was sooooo close! A couple of birdies today but I’m just racking up extras for the challenge. 🤣

11th hole.  Shortish par 5.  Around 475 or so.  Hit a great drive and a bit over 200 left.  Took a 4 hybrid from there and a few yards short of the green.  However, a bit short sided since there was a bunker I narrowly avoided and a hump between myself and the pin.  Couldn't hit a chip type shot, so went with my SW and hit a flop.  Brilliant shot to within 2 or 3 feet and sank the putt for a brilliant birdie

Won't be achieving all 18 again this year.  Four holes short.  Course closes this weekend, and woke up to a small amount of s**w on the ground this morning.

Done! (at least the "Away' portion). I noted that @coachjimsc completed his "Away" card about 2 weeks ago. Solid work Jim.

Now I have to work a bit to make my "Home" course card look less anemic. I am running out of time.

@sjduffers needs to get cracking!!

My Away portion is actually more like a second Home portion with fewer rounds played (with a few other courses here and there), hence why it's lacking a bit behind.

The remaining holes on the Home portion are the toughest ones, although one or two are probably somewhat gettable. After all I did manage to finish all 18 last year, but it was probably a fluke...

You do have, however, a "1" on your card. 😉

3 birdies today and a fourth lipped out. They are (or would have been) all repeats. Hard to nail the last few!  I am also still chasing my first round with 4 birdies. This is the closest it's ever been. Shoulda, coulda, ... damn it! 🙂

Started with shanking an eagle pitch on the first hole into the bunker and blasting the 30 yard bunker shot over the green for double. I was shaking with doubt but settled down and birdied 7, 9, 12, 16, and 17 to put together a 73. My only hole left is 10 and I had a downhiller and just missed it on the short side by an inch. Oh number 10, I am coming for you sucker!

I made five birdies today. Let's see… holes 2, 8, 11, 14, and 17. Hey hey, two of those were new on the away course composite, so I'm up to 12 holes with a score of -14 (two eagles).

I'm playing WW tomorrow, too.

For like the tenth time only. 😄

Yesterday I racked up 3 more birdies. I chipped in on #3, had a kick-in on 9, and birdied my old nemesis 16 with an uphill 15 footer. This is the second round in-a-row that I hit on 9 and 16. Still looking for hole 10 and I am -19 over 17 holes (2 eagles).

We played an first time private course with some severe crowned greens yesterday. After getting shellacked on the front with a 45, I managed to get it together on the back with a 37 and 3 birdies (one counting for away challenge). The first par 5 I hit 5 wood pin high and pitched to 3 feet. On a 360 yard par 4, split the fairway with a 3 wood and 58* degree wedge from 80 yards to 7 feet. On the last par 5 hit 3 wood into greenside bunker and splashed to 8 feet and made the put. All in all, an adventurous 82. Sigh.

Its been a while since I was able to add a few holes here.  I spent a few days in Williamsburg VA with some old friends, and managed to make 6 birdies in 3 rounds, including 4 "new" holes.  That brings me to 14 or 18.  At my home club, I still haven't birdied the tough #12, and may not get another chance this year.  I head to Pinehurst on Friday, for 3 weeks of fun (and some studying at the USGA Rules Workshop).  I'll get lots of away scores, but may not play at home again.

Played Cranberry Highlands on Tuesday and amazingly added FOUR birdies to my away course composite. I only have two left - holes 3 and 4. Probably won't get those, as I… did not birdie those holes today at Lake View, and unless I get them on Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks…

Added another couple of pars during a 5 club tournament yesterday. Regardless of the format, I'm counting them 😛

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
