Probably more. 33 under it to easy for these guys. They are pro’s they are great. 33 under is still way too easy.

I think the course lost its defense this week. No wind and soft greens. It can play a lot harder.

I know it's just me, but I didn't find the course all that interesting. Yes, it's Hawaii and 80 degree temps and beautiful water and surrounding scenery... But I just did not find the course itself very exciting. I didn't see every hole, but it seemed to me that many of the greens are very large. Perhaps take some of the green and turn it into some bunkers - make it a bit more challenging. Maybe a few more bunkers in the landing areas. Taller grass next to the 2nd cut. Something.

I don't think television does a good job of conveying how much elevation changes there are. Yes, some of the greens were big, but go long or left or right and you could be in a steep drop or hazard. The greens were pretty soft by PGA standards, but missing would be a penalty. With no wind to speak of, these guys just didn’t miss much.

-34. Damn good thing they’re implementing that 46” driver length rule or these guys would absolutely….wait. What?😁

 Something.

I hear ya, kinda agree, but OTOH amazing to really see how good there guys are, even things like that lag putting from the fringe on the last hole, from 52 feet and 93 feet and to convert for birdie, both.

There's no doubt that those guys are amazingly good. I was just commenting on my opinion of the course itself ascetically and the large sizes of many of the greens. I agree with @boogieliciousthat it's sometimes difficult to actually appreciate some of the more technical aspects of a course by watching it on TV - such as elevation changes. I just didn't think it was a very "pretty" course, in my eyes. Of course, if y'all contributed and sent me there I'm sure I'd like it a lot better! Just saying...

Thinking maybe it wins the beauty contest over Grandview... 😄 (Even Lake Padden and Shuksan)

This is a resort golf course.

One of the most important aspects of golf course design in a location like this is to remember that 99.999999 percent of rounds are played by amateurs and holidaymakers.

If you make the tail wag the dog, no-one would want to play there. Especially in the wind.

TV flattens the course out and the tournament has its own identity. It's about the location and the elevation changes.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I remember watching the Pebble Beach Tournament over the years and then finally played there.  The 14th green had two tiers with the front tier about 8-10 feet below the back tier... but it looked to be about 3 feet on TV.  What a shock when I finally played it.  But you won't find it now.  They removed the extreme elevation change a few years ago.

No worries. At the end of the day I was just feeding the supply chain. That being said, I’ll circle back and find the new normal. I was just asking for a friend. Maybe a deep dive wasn’t necessary here. Either way, you’re on mute. 😃

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
