Can you live without your cell phone?

  1. 1. Another of the conversations I have with my golfing buddies. Could you "go back" to the days of no cell phones?

    • I could give up my cell phone tomorrow with no problem.

    • No Way! I can't do without my cell phone.

    • It might suck at the beginning, but I would get over not having it.

Not to mention the phone relaying the chip info from your Covid shots directly to the CDC and others (in your case, your sister-in-law).

My big fear is that my sister-in-law is working on a remote control device which links into the transmitter from the quote unquote Covid Vaccine. Then she's going to have me walk into a bank and... well I think you see where this is all going.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Maybe she'll be benevolent and walk you onto a golf course with Brooks Koepka's swing.

Looking forward to a time when I can give up my phone. If anyone needs me they can call my wife and she can let me know. It is a fantasy, but maybe I could get a flip phone after I retire if they will still be in production.☺️

You're the target market for those big button phones for old people: 😄

I think I'm in the it'd suck at first but I'd get used to it camp. I don't send a whole lot of texts or make calls on it and I still have a landline at home and work so I could still be reached that way. I'd still have my laptop to connect to the internet and do things like that, so I think I'd be ok.

That being said, I really don't want to find out either.

I have a classmate who doesn't use a smartphone at all, uses email to stay in touch, is barely on any social media platforms and we reach out to him via his girlfriends phone or emails.  It can definitely be done and in some ways I like the idea of not being accessible 24 hours a day

No way I would give it up. We use cells for conversations we don't want on the open airwaves, for any reason from relieving airtime congestion to privacy concerns..

Remember the Jitterbug commercials?

Looking forward to untethering myself a little from the rat race, but that phone is ugly.

I don't understand this comment. I'm not making fun of it. I literally don't understand what you mean.

At work, we have radios in the vehicles anyone can monitor.  Cell is  a better option for many communications.

I was with Chet: that original post made no sense because it lacked that ⬆️ context.

I wasn't intending to be cryptic, it just turned out that way.

My phone has a "Do Not Disturb" setting as well as a "Power" button. Either one works to keep it quiet when I want it to be quiet.

Easier said than done.  I am able to manage that with my company laptop because I am an employee.  However, if I was the business owner, that may not be practical.  Unfortunately the cell phone falls into a similar category in many ways.  For example, my parents and in-laws live a couple of hours drive away.  My brother lives in a different country and continent.  My phone should ideally be reachable at all times for them only, not anybody else
