We’re making our version of Cincinnati chili with my wife’s chili and Alton Brown’s stove top Mac ‘n Cheese. My neighbor is making calzone. So I guess I’m pulling for the Bengals, which I guess is appropriate because I retired from P&G. I never liked Skyline though.

Normally I wake up at 3am to smoke a brisket on Super Bowl Sunday. But it’s my dad’s 75th birthday today, and my parents love Japanese food, so I’m making udon instead.

I also made a batch of Jacques Pepin’s fromage fort, plus I bought a bunch of chips, salsa, crackers, salami, nuts, cheese to much on with beer and cocktails.

And Ore Ida frozen fries as a treat for the kids.

Nothing special here. Unless the Steelers are playing, I don't care much about the Super Bowl.

I am not a big NFL guy. So, I will cheer for the Ohio team. Also, Joe Burrow, being from Ohio and went to Ohio State, I really want to see him win a Super Bowl. There are like 4-5 former Ohio State players on the Bengal's team.

He left OSU and went to LSU though.

Born like 2 hours from Columbus. He gets beat out by a QB that set B10 passing records. Also, because he broke his hand in practice. He's been quoted in saying he would not be the player he is today if he hadn't spent those years at Ohio State. He also is quoted in saying he is a Buckeye.

LSU can claim him, but so can Ohio State. Mostly, LSU should just be grateful that they got a former Ohio State QB, because we all know LSU is the QB graveyard. When your best QB, before Burrow was from like 1987, you know they do not do much of anything well with QB's.

Big difference between nothing special and 'sucks'. Neither in n out nor skyline 'suck'. And for easily impressed taste buds like mine, they're both awesome. I even like cheese curds now. Heh heh.

Now I'm off to pickup some Taco Bell.. oh yeah, this boy eatn good today! Uhuh. Ooh yeah .

But Skyline looks the same going in and coming out! 😜 Blue Ash Chili is much better and not a chain.

I hardly ever go south of Miamisburg any more, but the one I seem to hear about the most is Price Hill Chili. It's over on the west side on Glenway.

They were on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, but I remember them when I worked in Cincinnati ‘81-84. The fried jalapeño caps are awesome with the chili.

    • Day 8: 12/17/2024 Okay I took my new PPJ swing thought to the range today. I wasn't sure I was quite ready to do so, but I'm glad I did.  When I got it right it was good... really good. When I got it wrong it was a major fail. I hit lots of really ugly ones. But I didn't let that deter me. I stayed committed and focused on the PPJ and I avoided any temptation to go back to what I was doing before just so that I could "look" better at the range. I'm pretty excited about what I saw when I got it right.  I hit the 6 iron mostly (nearly all block work today). I also hit about 6 balls each with the PW, 8I, 5W and Driver. Those had varying degrees of success. I did crack one drive that let me feel and see what the changes will look like once I get fully trained.  Anyway, I'm going to go back to the mirror work for a couple of more days before bringing it back to the range. I do feel like if I can get this right my swing will improve a lot. So I think its worth the effort. I liked the way it looked on GEARs when I get it right, and I like the results I got at the range when I got it right. Now the goal is to work towards getting it right more often.
    • So I think it's that they can't just bend the shaft or hosel to get it to a new lie angle. They adjust that and it changes the weighting, so they have to then adjust all the weights to get it balanced again. I get the impression that it's a bit of an iterative process and they do it all in the US, so they're paying US labor costs to build it and make it work how it's supposed to. Whether you believe in the tech or not, I think that's a true statement.
    • Ah, the old EE in the backswing move. Chest going back and staying down doesn't help.
    • Extremely outward path with a very closed club face. Maybe unless you have a stupidly weak grip, like right hand way over top, I don't think the grip is necessary highly correlated to this.
