Got my new irons (Wilson d9 forged) and had the first round yesterday with them. Noticed after there’s a weird light coloured mark on the corner of my pw face. Anyone know what this could be and if it’s just cosmetic? It doesn’t seem to want to wipe off. Wasn’t sure if it’s just a mark from the factory bending the lie angle etc?

That’s what I’m hoping to do. Just wondered if there’s any reason or explanation what it could be?

I mean it could be so many different things.

It could be from a small pebble.

Could be from some grains of sand.

Could be from it hitting another club in your bag as it bounced in the cart.

Could be a blemish from the factory.

I say don't worry about it and enjoy the clubs. They're going to get dinged up.

There's a small scratch to the right of your circle too. I'm sure if you looked at your other clubs under bright lighting you'd see blemishes already too.

I have those irons. In fact they are back in the bag as we speak. I sent my brand new Titleist's back, the back of the 9 and 7 irons were peeling, like a poor job at the electro-platers or something. I don't mind if I bang up a set of 1000 dollar irons but I'll be damned if they come out of the box dinged up. Those are nice irons you have there, I have had zero complaints from them KBS Max Lite shafts for my smooth and easy old man swing. I only bought the Titleist's because I wanted them. Also sent the bag, Vokey's back as well. F-them. 3-SW Wilson Staff. I should update my signature thing.

Yeah they’re lovely irons! I’m assuming that marks just been a blemish and it’s nothing to worry about or peeling like you say.

Looks like a manufacturing defect. If you care about it you can probably send it back. Even if you don’t care, they might want to know about it.

I wouldn’t bother sending it back but I’d just like peace of mind that the clubs ok and it’s just a factory scuff etc.

On that I’m sure it’s fine. Looks cosmetic to me.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
