I watched most of the fourball session this morning. It went from being a very tough watch to very exciting at the end. There were 3 matches that came down to 18 where both teams could win it. The back 9 was a lot more fun than the front 9; the front 9 had a lot of bad golf, and it picked on the back 9.

USA should be feeling really good about day 1. Going 4-0 is incredible, and following that up with 1-3 isn't great, but you have to think being ahead after the first day is great. Europe has some problems, too. It seems like they have a few players hurt (Hull) or just plain not playing (Hedwall). They are going to exhausted by Sunday. The USA's problem is mostly that Lexi looked really shaky near the end of the match when she needed to be solid. Angel Yin and Ally Ewing lost emphatically in their match, but you think that can happen with that pairing. If the US can get to Sunday morning with a lead, it seems like they should be strong favorites.

The TV coverage was horrendous. It seems like the off-course commentary is being done remotely in a studio in the USA. The graphics on screen are useless. Unless you paid full attention to the broadcast, you had no idea where the matches stood or what each shot meant. I was working while watching and dipping in and out of the coverage. I would be completely lost for a few minutes while trying to catch up. They also lingered on the 1st hole for a long time, and showed very few shots outside of 1 when anyone was playing 1. I hope it improves, but I doubt it.

I watched the morning session on Peacock. Decent coverage but how do you mess up coverage of only matches. Big take away was a ton of bad really bad putts. Maybe 3 or 5 stood out as good putts. Afternoon session started off with a whimper. Hard to tell it is the solheim cup. The last 4 holes kept me interested. That stand out of the afternoon has to be the error on 18 by Lexi. Was she trying to be too fancy with the shot or just chocked. She played decent the entire day so don’t want to ruin it with one maybe tired shot. Some takeaways of course. D Kangs unis were an embarrassment. Do they not get fitted for these things? It looked she and her playing partner were heading out for coffee not playing for their country.  It got better once they took off the oversized hoodie and I assume rain pants. Had they fit properly ok. Just didn’t like personally. I also miss the Wei’s Creamers of the world. Those ladies let you know how proud they were to play for the red white and blue and would come to the 1st tee all amped up with pride. Will watch tomorrow morning again. Love these events just wish I knew who more of these players were.

Funny, because they got a lot of criticism for being more concerned about how they looked than how they played.

Watch more LPGA then. I don’t watch a ton of LPGA, but I know who all these players are.

I think it is a poor venue for this type of event. It looks a fun course to play but a terrible course to be spectator following matches, it’s up down all the way with side slopes etc. A hard walk.
I’m hoping for a tight finish on Sunday, whoever wins.

I don’t recall hearing that. Maybe. But those ladies played with heart. every shot.

I watched 90% of it until I had to leave for a wedding. Got up at six and started watching the recording.

I was watching and confused.

And I also know who all of the players are.

I really enjoyed the afternoon session, and it was fun watching Sagstrom’s HIO. She probably hit the worst shot of those on the green, but had a great roll!

Agree with others regarding the lack of graphics around current score, but I knew where most stood. Tough chip for Lexi on 18 leading to their loss.Zhang and Khang did a great job supporting each other to eke out a halve.

She'll be done early and able to cheer on teammates still playing. It's fine.

Of course, she answered it anyway, albeit condescendingly. Bad look.

I'm hoping Zhang puts one across Leona..💪

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
