I had to update finally. Total of 4 birdies now on home course. Missed an eagle putt by inches on a par 5 on two different days but made the birdie. I'm loving the new Taylormade Spider Tour putter.

Picked up birdie #5 Monday - on #11 the 2nd hardest hole on the back at Minnesott.  This hole has been a tough one with pond protecting the front of the very elevated green.  Solid drive that led to a good 7i into the green to about 15' or so.  Solid roll dead center of the cup...

Ok, it's been a while, but I finally got the 18th hole! It was the only one left over from last year and it took 14 months, but I got it today. It is a slight dogleg right, plays 425 up to an elevated green into the prevailing wind. Playing slightly up, I hit driver and had about 160 into the green. Hit 6 iron to 4 feet and with a straight uphill putt made it center cut! Now I can stop thinking about that hole!

All I have left this year is 5, 15, and 17.  Let's Go!

(edited)

I picked up two for the "Away" listing. It was somewhat of a surprise that I did not double up on either birdie but both holes were open. I hope to work on the "Home" listing this Friday.

Birdied the short par 4 7th hole at Neshanic Valley GC, Meadow course. Tees were up and I drove the green with my 4w. Two-putted from 60'.

Finally, birthday number seven, just short in two & pitched to about 5 feet.
front nine all done!
Also, got a lucky eagle on three, caught a nine iron a smidge  fat, never left the  pin landed short and rolled in the hole

Last Sunday played a tournament.  Bad round in general, particularly short game, since I hadn't touched my clubs for 2 months.  But on 17 I hit a great drive.  A bit risky because there is a water hazard on the right side of the fairway.  Was actually the wrong line and length because another foot and I would have been in the hazard entering it half way up.  But from there hit a great 4 hybrid and was around 60 or so yards to the green though just off the fairway.  Brilliant PW and within2 or 3 feet.  Made the putt

For the first time since 2021, I made a 3 on the 12th at Stoneleigh.    395 yards, something like 80 feet uphill, I hit a solid drive and a 7-wood to inside a foot.  Even I couldn't miss that one.  I feel like I haven't played a lot of golf this year, but I'm making decent progress.

I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!

Snap @ Tour Spoon!

Birdied 11 yesterday. Hit a poor iron ,stopped on edge of bunker , pitch with my lob wedge landed about 6’ away and went in.

Only 12 & 14 to go, long par5’s into the prevailing wind.

Might be waiting a while although I did have about 15’ on 12 after the birdie on 11, didn’t miss by much.

Added a birdie on #7, which brings my total up to 9. Not bad to be halfway there!

Alright Trappers, the last 2 weeks I have been making progress. It started with 15 in which I hit 8 iron from 132 (knock down into wind) to 3 feet. That only leaves the difficult #5 left to birdie. But as fate would have it I busted a drive on 17 and had 235 downwind. I hit 3H and being dry it hit the back side of the last hill and rolled onto the green (par 5). I made a 30 footer for eagle. The following week on the par 5 12, I chipped in for eagle. I still have #5 that is lingering and then I can be done with the challenge. Funny as it wasn't so difficult last year, but this year, not so much. I keep getting close and making stress free pars, so I am sure it's a matter of time!

I showed up today to be a rules official for the Virginia Senior Fourball's second day.  As it turned out, one team had withdrawn, and I was asked to be a marker, to play along with the team that had been abandoned.  With just enough time to get my shoes on and put my clubs on the cart, I didn't start out very good.  But I DID birdie the 18th (our 9th) in front of a small crowd.

Birdied the par 5 #14 at Quail Brook GC. Hit a high draw 3W just short of the green on my second shot, chipped just right of the back right flag to about 12' and made the putt.

It's starting to look like I'm going to get at least 20 rounds at Quail Brook for it to qualify as my home course but I've been adding the birdies there to my away composite for so long that I don't feel like separating it all now. So the away composite will simply be an aggregate of all my birdie holes for the year.

    • Day 166 (15 Oct 24) - Worked with the 6i into the net today.  Focused on the legs - slight knee bend, keeping pressure on lead foot, getting rotation thru contact.
    • No. The Steelers aren't paying either of them very much. They're not gonna get rid of a SB winning QB in case Justin is injured or something.
    • It could be to exhibit for trade bait.   Some teams may be looking for another QB (Miami) and if Wilson plays well, the compensation could be large.
    • Ball strike is king. You hit with a glancing blow (hook or slice), your smash factor just decreases a ton. Having a face to path angle of like 20 degrees versus something like 3 degrees is huge.  Yea, getting in shape is a good idea all around. Power is moving something heavy really fast. So, increasing how much you can lift, then improving on how fast you can move it will improve your power. In general, I think the two biggest tests for distance is like a chest press and standing vertical high jump. Some people are gifted with fast hands, but having good lower body can amplify what you have. Using the ground the correct way really ramps up the rotation speed, and then that can get the clubhead moving faster. Still, the hands do get down from the top of the backswing really fast.  If you start gaining strength and power gains. Knowing how to use the ground properly is important. You can have all the leg strength, but if you are not activating it correctly it is a waste. That is where good mechanics come into play.
    • Any thoughts?  Not sure I agree with this. I think Fields is doing good. The team is 4-2. I am not sure Russel is any better. Last year by QBR, they were basically the same player. Two years ago, Russel was just BAD. If you want to take prep time away from the guy who got you to 4-2, just to give a guy who has been injured a shot, I think it is a waste of time.  Hey, I do not watch them every weekend, but maybe some Pittsburgh fans can chime in.
