Whatever your political leanings, it's apparent that Trump is a pretty decent golfer.

Yea, I am not watching that video. Knocks Bryson down a few in my opinion of him.

I would advise against watching this if twitchy putting strokes bother you though. Yikes! He drives it pretty well and he hit some decent iron shots, but if he's a 4 then I'm a +8. I did however enjoy the massive duff into a bunker short followed by "no, I hit it too easy". That was a way to put it I guess.

So this wasn't a bad watch. For a guy pushing age 80 he strikes the ball well. I mean, if I am doing what he is doing 30 years from now, count me in. Imma pass on that putting stroke though.... wow. That's saying something with my putting skills. Not making fun of it but it's almost like he had to keep the putter from falling out of his hands after impact every time. Not sure if that's a recent thing but it plays out like some neurological condition.

BDC claims 'it's a hard course' to break 50, and then proceed to play putt-putt tees with 320-yard par 5s.. lol. Dood drove almost every par 5 from the tee. Anyway, not exactly the 'greatest round of golf that has ever been played' as expectedly self-advertised by 45, but I've certainly seen worse by far.

Probably relative to the other courses he has played in the break 50 series. He's done them all from the front tees.

Gotcha. Don't remember it being that short in Paige episode (the only other one I watched in it's entirety), but to be fair I wasn't paying close attention to the hole lengths. 😜

With Sergio they played the whites, saying that they wanted a challenge and it would be too easy from the reds. If Bryson had played with Sergio on this course and this day instead of DT then they'd have gone quite a lot lower.

Watched one with Sergio. Big difference except for hole 11 (420 yard par 5). They had to hit a lot more pin seekers for gimme birdies. If DT played instead of Sergio, they would have been 5 shots worse. Reverse probably not true. Not sure Sergio would have fared much better instead of DT in the OP. Maybe a shot or two. BDC made at least 3 putt bombs that probably would have wiped out and approach SGs Sergio would have gotten the duo instead of DT.

However he can play some decent golf especially for his age and what he does do really well is build amazing golf courses.

Yeah, as noted above, part of it is that they play the forward tees. But… I mean, ≤ 50 for a twosome is pretty freaking low. So it's still tough. The hole is still 4.25" in diameter.

Which golf courses did he build that are considered "amazing" ?

No doubt, but it seemed he was made it sound like this instance was especially hard. Prolly brown-nosing DT since his course. I would have set par at 19 under so breaking 50 would have been like shooting 4 under in as a 'scramble differential' (please don't ask me for the algorithm.. haha) for that course/tees.

On that note, I think Imma propose my buddy Pete to try a copy cat at our course from the 'family' tees. Probably aim to break 60 though.. heh. Def seems like a hoot of a time. Hell, I was rooting for Sergio of all people in their episode in a moment of utopian weakness. 😂

I would have paid good money to see Bryson ask him how often he gets over to the courses in Scotland 🤣

Well if you watched the video, you'd remember he talked about how Turnberry is rated "best in the world" about three or four times. 🤣

By whom… I don't know. Certainly not Golf Magazine where it barely cracks the top 20.

And the course that held British Opens wasn’t built by him anyway.

I think there was one year probably 25ish years ago that Turnberry was rated no. 1 in the British Isles by one of the British golf magazines, but it was a one off and I don't think you'd find many that agreed with it. I did really enjoy it the one time I played it, but I don't think it's the best in Scotland, let alone the world.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
    • Day 2, 12/31/25.  Similar to yesterday (rainy, no surprise), I hit primarily 6-iron full swings with the same focus;  I also hit some chips (about 1/8 swing) with the 54.  About two dozen full swings and an equal number of short shots.  All of this was indoors, off a mat, into a net, real balls.
