Okay, so my children and I got into a heated debate at the dinner table last night.

We were discussing making Christmas Cookies and got on the topic of what is the best cookie.

I personally think the Oatmeal Raisin is the best. My kids mocked me. "THAT'S AN OLD MAN COOKIE!"

Seriously?

Does anyone besides me love the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?
And if not, what is the best cookie?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Those are good. But they are like the Dan Marino of cookies, The Oatmeal Raisin is the Tom Brady of cookies. ... IMO ... 👍😜👍

Eh... I'll make the black and white cookie the Vinnie Testaverde of cookies. 👍👍... Once again, this is my opinion.

I'll say a tie between a good shortbread cookie, and chocolate chip right out of the oven.

Oatmeal raisin makes a good substrate for ice cream sandwich.

It’s a fine cookie- but nowhere near the best! A little mocking was in order! The Hershey’s kiss Sugar is the best Christmas cookie. The warm chocolate chip is the best overall!

Those are the cookies you eat when the other good ones are gone.

We have a supposed recipe for Mrs Fields Chocolate Chip cookies. They are fantastic. My Uncle actually worked for Mrs Fields and we showed it to him. He said it was very close. The secret is a small amount of oatmeal powder added and the balance of white and dark brown sugar, baking soda and powder.

Peanut Butter w/ Chocolate Kiss Cookies are high on my list.

Sorry, Oatmeal/Raisin are not on my list at all, even thought I do qualify as "Old Man"

Molasses Cookies

My Mom and now my wife make these for me.  The name doesn't do the cookie justice because they don't have an overwhelming molasses taste, just soft and oh-so-good..

Mom's Molasses cookies

Yields: 16 Servings

 Ingredients

 ·      1 1/2 cups Sugar

·      1 cup Shortening creamed

·      2 Eggs Beat before adding

·      1/2 cup Briar Rabbit Molasses medium or mild molasses

·      3 cups Flour sifted

·      1 1/2 teaspoons Baking soda

·      1 teaspoon Salt

·      1 cup Coconut shredded

·      1 cup Walnuts chopped

 Instructions

 1.   Blend shortening and sugar

2.   Add egg and molasses; beat well

3.   Sift together flour, soda, and salt gradually add to the creamed mixture, and mix thoroughly.

4.   Add coconut and walnuts and mix well.

Drop by teaspoon about 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for about 8 minutes at 375º. Take the cookies out of the oven before they are done.  They will continue cooking out of the oven.  The cookies are better not well done.

You will thank me later!

So, I was at a Christmas party this past weekend. They had a large desert table. On which I found Oatmeal Raisin cookies. ... Yummy. They were delicious.
Then, I see there's another guy there, mowing down on the Oatmeal Raisin. Turns out, they are his favorite cookie as well.

So, I tell my kids "See, I'm not the only one who's favorite cookie is the oatmeal raisin."

My daughter chimes in "Dad, that's Abby's Grandpa... So, yeah, it is an old man cookie!"

Ugh... the truth hurts. 😢

    • Day 227 (16 Day 24)  - Temps back in the 60’s - but a full day of other obligations meant limited time, so I worked on setup, tempo and  hitting shorter punch shots focused on making solid contact with the hard foam balls.   This drill really helps to dial in ball first contact as you’re not worried about a specific distance or pin - just making contact.  Of course as I can hit from varied lies, not two shot setups are exactly perfect replicating being on the course.
    • As many have already said. Without seeing your swing it's really hard to know for sure what's causing your issue. I will say I had similar results way back in the early 2000's. My irons were okay, but my driver kept producing ugly, worm-burning duck hooks that were impossible to play.  The golf coach I had at the time (honestly not as good as my current coach, but not terrible). Helped me with the simplest solution possible. At the time I was coming way off the ball to the trail side during my back swing and then going way past the ball on my swing. My head was moving like 18 inches. It was ugly. (Both my head and my movement. 😜) When I saw it on video I was shocked how bad it looked. It was relatively easy to tame though after I saw it.  The point of that is not that you should think that's the same problem you are having. The point of that is that you should get some quality video of your swing.  Let us know how you get on. Good luck.
    • Hmmm, I think people would do well to move away from this kind of thinking. Specifically, two things: That we "pull" the butt of the club forward toward a wall anywhere near the front leg. That we "maintain" or "hold" the wrist angles. Both of those are closer to the opposite of what we do in the golf swing.
