How Many Courses Have You Played?

I do not have an exact track record, but it should be somewhere in the region of 30 courses in 4 countries (Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy)

I created a list this year, actually. I have played 7 of the top 100 golf courses in the USA that are accessible to the public*** (Places like Augusta and Pine Valley aren't exactly accessible)

 

In total I have played 71 different golf courses. I am a country club member, so I've played over 400 rounds at the same two courses. If I were not a member I would have a much greater course list, but boy oh boy it would cost me an arm and a leg to do so.

I switched around between 9 different courses last year. So far this year because it's still early I have played 3 different courses so far numerous times.

I only began playing about 2 years ago, and I think I've played only 8 courses up to this point (one of them being Bethpage Black) spanning 4 states: CT, NY, MA, and SC (Kiawah Island).  While I haven't played any courses outside of the U.S., I'm traveling to Turino, Italy in June and would like to get out on a course there if possible.  I wish I had the money to collect something (other than the scorecard) from each course I play, but for now I think I'll only buy something to keep from the more prestigious courses.

No need to spend money, really, just take photos.  Now even inexpensive printers can make pretty good prints you can frame, if you find you've taken a shot worth the effort.  I'm speaking as someone who HAS collected a lot of momentos (or perhaps its junk) from lots of courses, and I'm glad to have a lot of it on display in my basement, but you can start collecting reminders of the courses without spending a dime.

Great point!  I was able to snap some pics when I was down in Kiawah and it was funny you mentioned the prints because I actually have a few framed prints from the course.  Almost got to play one of the two courses in Aruba about a month ago and that would've been a great photo op as well.

I am probably missing some but of those that I can remember in the past 48 years of playing golf, I have played at least 263, if my 3^rd grade Alabama math is correct.

I really don't collect stuff from the courses I play.  I do take a lot of pictures of places I have never been before.

Up to 338 courses after my trip to Orlando and Cancun.  Played 7 new courses over the course of the 10 day trip.

Is there a way you keep track of every course you play?  I know I wouldn't be able to remember all of them once the number got that high.

I have a spreadsheet that I use to track all of the courses I play and update it as I play the courses (Course Name and State).  I've thought about doing a comment on each course, but haven't gotten to that level yet.  Although my initial list was from mostly from memory.   The majority of the courses have been in Maine, Virginia, Maryland, California and Florida, which account for 250+.

I'm lucky, my wife is also an avid golfer, so when we go on trips, everything revolves around golf, so my list continues to grow.  We even played golf on the day of our wedding.

@jsgolfer A spreadsheet is a good idea; I might have to start one this season.  Golf on my wedding day would be a dream come true! Haven't heard too many stories like that.

Personally, the scorecard for the first round at each course sounds like a nice thing to collect.  They fit in a photo book or something similar and don't take up a lot of room.  Once you start getting into collecting balls, ball markers or similar collectible items, you have to concern yourself with storage & display.  You can write a few notes on each score card so years later you can page through your album and rekindle fond memories.

I use to keep score cards from the different places I played. I kept them in plastic containers with dates marked on them. Some places didn't have score cards.  i would just put a sticky note in the container. At some point, this became too cumbersome, and I stopped doing it. 

As much traveling as we use to do, it was nothing to stop and play 6-10 times in a state to golf. We are planning a trip now back to Indiana. I suspect I will be finding some new to me courses along that trail.

Less than 20, I don't have an exact count. I'm planning on trying to travel around and try to take part in different TST outings around the country to increase that number and meet more of you all in person.

I've played 414 courses in 29 states and three countries.  (U.S., MX, and Jamaica).  Individually, I've played 116 in Wisconsin where I live.  I also collect scorecards from each course I have played.

Well, I added 4 more in Ireland over the last couple of weeks, I'm up to 258 that I can identify.

Not sure how old this topic is but I am up to 117 courses in Australia, UK, US and a few others like Asia.

I buy a shirt from the bargain bin if it is a good course and a few balls to take back to the buddies and one to keep. I have bought too many caps and not enough socks.

My best/ favorite courses are Royal Melbourne and Cape Wickham in Australia, Pebble Beach, Dallas Cowboys in the US, St Andrews and Carnoustie (now that's golf) in Scotland, and Sunningdale and Woking in England.
