Ogio Stand Bags

In the market for a new stand bag and open to any suggestions, but the specific model I've been looking at is the Ogio Grom... I've noticed a lot of folks on this site and others have positive things to say about it.

Checking them out online, there is about a $50-70 difference between the 2009 version (which I've checked out in person) and the previous one (2007 I think). Aside from color changes though, I can't seem to tell any difference between the two with the limited pictures online. Has anyone tried the new 2009 bag and/or noticed any changes from the previous one? I'm tempted to just get the cheaper older one...

I am looking at the Ozone but i decided to hold off because if i make my team(scores to make it are around 43 but on that course i shoot 38) i get a free bag.

The Grom looks like a sweet bag. From reading the website, it seems like they improved the durability of the legs. If you are interested in lightweight bags, the Mizuno Aerolite III is a great bag for a great price and has all the pockets you would need. Sun Mountain's new Four 5 bag seems pretty sweet too, 14 way divider and a 4.5 lbs.

What! You guys get free bags? I have to pay $180 for the Ping Hoofer Vantage bag that my team is getting. School colors and our names embroidered on it, but $180!? Good luck on your tryouts.

id suggest going with the older, cheaper version. i was looking at the 08 Ogio Ozone vs the 09 Ozone as well. "golf bag technology" hasnt changed a whole lot, if at all, over the last year or two. what what ive read online, everyone who has an "older" ogio bag loves theirs, so id say go with the older version.

I couldn't tell you the difference. To me, it just looks like Ogio added colors to every one of their bags. It seems, performance and function wise, there's no difference.

How much are they selling the Grom for online? There may be better bags at that price. The Grom has great features, but it's a bit heavy IMO. If you plan to walk and carry, there may be better options weight wise. If you like Ogio (like I do), the Ozone is a bit cheaper, lighter, and IMO has some better functions than the Grom. It's definitely worth a look.

Free is always nice. I guess it's going to be a PING. To the OP, PINGs are great bags. I'd recommend a PING over the Grom. The only downside is that PINGs are expensive.

I like the 3.5 over the 4.5. To me, 14 way dividers just mess things up when I walk. Plus, the 3.5 is a pound lighter and does what the Four 5 does (I think so anyway).

P.S. - I know it's off topic, but what division do you guys play in (D-I, D-II, D-III)? I'd PM, but the negative rep doesn't allow me to.

Becksfan, did you decide? I have the same predicament....from what I can see, the main diff between the 08 and 09 Ozone is the handle a the top, and that (maybe) the top does not have full length dividers = to the number of openings. I think the 08 is 8 oppenings and 4 full length dividers versus on the 09 is 8/8.

As for the Grom, I'm not sure I see any difference other than cosmetic. I do have to say the 09 Grom is very sweet!!!!!! Let us know what you decided!

My brother has an 09 and mine is a year older. The only difference is in the pockets, other than the new colors. Otherwise they are the same. The Woode top has 4 individual full length dividers for your woods and another one for your putter. The other two spaces are divided from the rest and both hold 3-4 clubs easily. The putter space is sunk in a few inches and protected from the rest of your clubs. You could play without a putter headcover with no worries.

Here are the differences I noticed.... On the new'09 model the fleece lined valuables pocket is popped out a few inches, making it easier to get into, esspecially when straped to a cart. Also the '09 has a hard sunglasses pocket, while mine does not. In the newer model the elastic strap for your cellphone is located inside the fleece lined valuables pocket, while in the older one is located in one of the side pockets, where it could potentially get knocked around pulling out your sweatshirt, extra tees, or whatever else you store in there. For me these are not enough to warent the extra cash as I rarely ride in a cart, wear sunglasses, and never bring a cell phone. Hope this helps.

I own 4 OGIO bags 3 stand and 1 cart and haven't 1 single complaint.

I just bought the older Ozone and have used it for about 5 rounds. Best bag I have ever bought very light and plenty of room. I'm not sure about how it fits on a cart, because if I am going to ride i switch to my tour bag. I would say the older Ozone at a disounted price is the way to go!

I've had a grom for a while. Honestly, I'm not sure what year, but it's really good either way. Bags arent really something I care about too much. As long as it's durable and has enough pockets, I'm good.

I just got a new Ogio stand bag for this season and have nothing negative to say about it thus far. Seems to be designed well.

I did end up going with the 2009 - I found a good deal on a "used" one on eBay that saved me $40 and had never really been used at all.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this bag, but I absolutely love it. The legs system works really well, which was the major selling point for the 2009 model. It is a tiny bit heavy, but that's only because I have stuffed all of it's incredibly convenient pockets with my stuff! I have walked with it probably 5-6 times and ridden twice - and it is definitely an excellent "hybrid" bag that works well for both. My previous bag was a mess when you strapped it to the cart, but the Grom is incredibly well designed for that. The unique top and divider system works really well, no complaints there. And the handle you mentioned on the top of the bag is also nice to have... I use it more than I thought I would. One thing I would look at in addition to the leg system is the pocket design - because the 2009 has an incredibly convenient scorecard pocket & water bottle holder, both of which I use and love. If the 2008 version doesn't have these, then I would definitely splurge for the 2009. If the design is the same, then it's a tougher call. Ultimately, I haven't tried the Ozone, and I don't have the 2008 to compare it to, but I am very happy with the 2009 Grom. It's not the lightest thing in the world, but if you ride occationally and can be diciplined about taking out the extra stuff in your bag before the round, this will be a great bag for you. Hope this helps.

Anyone ever had problems with the quality of Ogio stand bags? I bought a 2017 Ogio Press in mid March. After a handfull of rounds the putter well has a tear in it. That can't be common with a new bag. I contacted Ogio and am waiting for a response.

I've used Ogio for the last 6 or seven years.  Love the Woode top for club organization.  I haven't had a problem with quality except the last bag i bought had poor shoulder straps (very thin and uncomfortable).  I just bought another Ogio to replace it, but made sure that the carry straps were padded enough to walk 18.  I have had bags where my clubs wore through parts of he fabric that covers the top dividers.  A Mizuno carry bag and a Hoofer bag both wore through to the plastic divider frame in spots.  The Ogio bags I've used seem to last longest.
