I'm convinced, and if you aren't too, then you're insane!

Tiger didn't make a single putt over 15'! He had a disastrous finish at the Barclays, and he was closer to the cut line than the leaders after two days!

His putting has never looked worse! He should go back to, uhhh, me as his teacher. Clearly Hank Haney has completely botched Tiger's putting stroke. Not to mention every other part of his game. He's barely won five times this year, missed a cut in a major and didn't win any of the others, and is only clinging to a tiny lead in the FedExCup playoffs and the OWGR!

Oh, and having a family has screwed him up too. And that Tigerade he drinks, it's garbage, it makes his hands shake and gives him the yips!

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

I don't think so. This was the first time they have played this course. Everyone had problems with their putting. I think he was just misreading the greens. I mean the putts were breaking like crazy! 2 or 3 breaks in most of the putts!

He's barely won five times.....Come on. He is a streaky putter. Always has been.

See what we think after next year.

uh oh ... you should've put the "[sarcasm]" in the thread title. People are going to race to this thread!

**since we're on the Barclays, it's still amazing to me how consistently Tiger places in the top 10. That's almost as impressive as his wins imo.

I agree he was having trouble reading the greens on a course he was unfamiliar with. He is the most studied player in the game and he doesn't miss that put on almost all the other courses he plays. As for him returning to you butch, I look no farther than the terrible job you did with my boy Ernie. Ernie yesterday credited his recent success with his return to his old swing. All you did was mess him up for a couple of years.

That birdie putt that tiger had on 18 was misread several times, if i remember. Stricker had almost the same putt and missed it the same way that tiger did.

Ernie seemed pretty happy with the OP's work yesterday when he was interviewed after his round. If I recall correctly he credited Butch for getting him back on track.

The yips in putting usually impact the 3 to 5 foot range not the 15' range. His stroke also looked good nothing jerky or broken in it. Not like a Billy Mayfair or even a Steve Marino looking putt.

I think Tiger's putter may be bent. Either 10º upright, or to about 10º loft.

This is all I can figure.

When I saw his putt on 18, I thought....hmm...not as much follow-through as usual for Tiger. But then IIRC looked like he missed high (left), so. We all get to miss some of the time. Tiger's stat was that he makes 90% of putts from that distance. 90% isn't 99.99% - he misses 1 out of 10. That was the 1. Poor timing, but he would have come in 2nd anyway...

Tiger is pretty much done. Doomed to have the same putting woes as Arnold Palmer as he aged. Look for him to try out a belly putter next week.

At least the later posters seem to have read the sarcasm that was there (and stated outright). Thanks for restoring a little of my faith in mankind.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
