I'm all about the "mulli reload". That's where before your club has made it through your backswing your hand is in your pocket and pulling out a new ball (w/tee), teeing and striking before the first one has even had a chance to stop rolling.

I've got it down to a science.

No mulligans, cause it really makes you blind to what you really shoot. If you really want to improve, I suggest giving them up.

If you're turning in the score for hdcp, absolutely not! If you're messing around with you're buddies, and everyone agrees, take as many as you want. Just don't try to pass that off as a real score.

if im having a practice round on my own and playing for the fun of it, i always take the shot again with a different ball if i hit a bad one just to practice that shot again but ill still go and play my other ball anyway and count that one

Just say no!!!

Are you channeling Nancy Reagan, or the modern day Republican party?

All good players I know do this, oh, and me, it's why you play practice rounds.

The group I play with allows for 1 mulligan off the 1st tee if you want it. We don't have a functional range, so I don't think it's too bad. You can only take so many practice swings. I have played with people that take loads of mulligans and cheat like crazy though. They tell me they got a 6 when it was clearly a 10. I don't know why people play that way. If I take 10, I take 10. No point in lying about it.

However, when I play by myself and the course is not busy, I play shots over, practice pitch shots, chips, etc. In fact the 2 times I played by myself this season, I haven't even used a score card yet. Just out there hitting balls.

Not a fan of mulligans.....I just take my punishment and move on.....

Granted, I have seen guys use the old "two off the first tee" rule.....doesn't bother me, they can do what they want.....some people take a mulligan every other hole - I actually find this entertaining, usually it's just a guy who likes to have a good time, no biggie....

When I first started playing I would take mulligans all the time, it wasn't about keeping score but trying to string a couple good shots together. Mostly played by myself in the late afternoons so it didn't affect pace of play and the times when i was paired up i would hit my tee shot, if it was crap just pick it up and play best ball.

Still take mulligans, but now just call them 3.

No mulligans.

If I am playing by myself and the course is wide open, I may drop another ball & hit a couple extra shots into a green or something. But the first ball is always counted for handicap purposes.
