It is sad. I was a huge fan and it soured me from even watching now. Not just LA, but the fact that all my favorites even before LA were dirty even if they don't admit it.

That being said, I don't believe golf has near the problem that other sports have.  PEDs don't really fit the skill set that golf requires.

yes it is...  and yes, they were...   heck, they've been using ped's since day 1...

i have come to grips with it, because i love the sport...   i know guys are gonna get popped, and i just let it go off my back...  if i got myself all tied up with it (like many do on "dopage forums"), i'd hate the sport...

i don't think golf does either...   remember the whole "beta blockers" stuff?

golf has plenty of issues...  i don't think ped's are one of them...

now, if you ask me if there is recreational drug use on the tour.... :-D

If you were such a cycling fan and baseball fan you would know that for example - every testing and governing body was taking Lances side. In Baseball if you think everyone knew it MLB didnt do a thing just as PGA isnt because long balls bring fans - like you. Accusing me of being a troll is what ignorant people do when they have no argument.  Why does Gary Player agree with me? How can you explain a little dude like Rickie or Rory hitting 400 yd drives? Bubba didnt hit the ball 400 yds Sunday - he FLEW it 400 yds!  Think about that.  I posted here because after last weekend it was so apparent what is going on that I felt the need to open my mouth.

Here is another question you cant answer. Are you aware of Tigers relationship with the doping Dr?  Do you know a survey was taken and 25% of the PGA pros said he was doping.

Golf, unlike cycling and other sports has a no talk rule. When DJ "took some time off" nothing was said.  When Tiger went after his wife nothing was said. When rumors swirled about his partying habits, use of painkillers and drinking - not one so called journalist followed up. Why? Because the no talk rule. Remember when McCord made one negative comment about the greens at Augusta? He was banned for life! Golf has a unique hierarchy and no one dares cross the line of no talk.

I will bet you a million dollars right now that within 10 years there is a huge doping scandal in golf.  Watching short small players smash 400 yd drives on a SOFT course is enough for me. You can call me names and accuse me of trolling - out your money where your mouth is.

This is all old news that has been stated many times in this forum. Please come up with something new and don't keep repeating the same rant over and over again. And please post in other threads.

Thank you.

What are you talking about?  Rory  and Rickie are smaller than Player and are hitting the ball 40-50 yards longer with 40% faster clubhead speed. There is no one on tour bigger than Jack.  Please - think and try to stay in reality

Rory for the record is >5'9" 165 and Rickie is >5'9" 150. Gary is only 5'6" and that's being generous. All three have superior athleticism.

Different people have different bodies. There are people who are much more efficient than the average person.

If PED's were as rampant as you perceive them to be, we would have heard about it, like we have in other sports. There would be an epidemic with junior and college golfers as well because they can hit as far as many of the pros.

The players you've mentioned in this thread hit it far before they were on tour, they also don't hit it 400 yards, there's stats on this stuff. The modern players are better athletes and play with better equipment, going to lead to them hitting the ball farther than Gary Player in the 70's.

And please stop trolling or you'll be restricted from the thread.

Most medical prescribed steroids are corticosteroids and have the side effect of muscle atrophy which results in reduced strength.  Like prednisone, which I'm on.

Anabolic steroids are prescribed much more rarely and are prescribed for (from the Mayo Clinic website):

Quote:

Anabolic steroids are used for several reasons:

  • To help patients gain weight after a severe illness, injury, or continuing infection. They also are used when patients fail to gain or maintain normal weight because of unexplained medical reasons.
  • To treat certain types of anemia.
  • To treat certain kinds of breast cancer in some women.
  • To treat hereditary angioedema, which causes swelling of the face, arms, legs, throat, windpipe, bowels, or sexual organs.

I don't think patients with those conditions are going to feel particularly strong.

________________

Most likely when someone says they are on medically prescribed steriods they are on corticosteroids.   If they thing they are feeling stronger it's probably just a placebo effect.

____________________________

I end up explaining all this from time to time to my friends, family, coworkers as when they hear I'm taking steroids they will often ask if it's helping me grow muscle.  Answer; nope, it's actually the opposite.

Anabolic Steroids. I think one did have some hereditary disease, not sure what it was. I didn't notice any swelling at the time, though? The other one got cancer and needed the steroids to recover muscle mass. He said he built serious muscle mass quickly and was a lot stronger right away. Both of them were young at the time of the treatment, and continued the treatment long after they were "normal" again. This is where they said they felt really strong. Neither suffered any long term effects that I know.

Both of them lost a lot of coordination and focus because of side effects. Not sure what they meant and didn't really dig too deep into it at the time.

1) Growth Hormone is the Rx of choice for someone to bulk up. 2) I don't like, watch, or care about Copperfield, baseball, or cycling. 3) "If" some golfers use steroids to recover from an injury I don't care. 4) Bubba and Charles Howell are almost stick figures and the both hit the ball a long way. Also, do think Retief, Ernie, and Louis are doing steroids so they can bulk up or to swing out of their shoes? I find the arguments to support a huge PED problem in golf to be neither logically, medically, or scientifically sound.

yup... my whole life, i've had a stick figure upper body... it just wont grow, my arms are like broomsticks... i do have a pretty big butt and thighs, which doesn't hurt... i am also blessed with pretty fast hands and "good" hand-eye coordination... i'd likely be considered a + hc at foosball, which other than getting me some beers, is a worthless skill... pre-modern ball/clubs, i was a pretty long hitter (although nowhere near tst long... :-P )... i was also in the "prime" of my golf life... without any "medical assistance", i hit the ball much further in my 50's than in my prime... gee, i wonder why that i'm longer now than i was then??? in the years up to and including my prime, i played a TON of golf, so it isn't like i was a slacker... and my body was certainly in a lot better condition than the mess that it is now... for a less personal example, look at the old guys tour... they hit it MILES longer than they did when they were younger... somehow, i don't think ped* abuse is rampant on the old guys tour... * viagra and cialis excepted, of course... :-P

bullfeathers - just look at the improvements in the last 5 years of club head speed and distance. Rory is hitting it 20% farther from the tee in the last 2 years as is Rickie and Jason Day. The reason we dont read about it is because Golf has a no talk rule and any journalist knows even mention will get them expelled.

You still wont answer my simple questions or put up any money.   Golf Mag did a survey of PGA tour golfers and 25% said they think that Tiger was or is using PEDS. So why hasnt anyone reported this or looked into it?  What About DJ?   Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh    You can believe what you want. You are naive at best.

Furthermore if you look at cycling. The bikes are 20-25% lighter, the tires and wheels are much better and more aero and the gears are better. Yet when they finally cracked down the times went back to the Eddie Mercx Days!

How is it that Secretariat still holds track records all over the USA?   Animals and people dont magically improve 25% without HELP of DRUGS. You all are in la la land.

Do you have any eye dear how far 400 yards is? Do you have any eye dear how much farther that is than anything Jack ever hit?  Yet we are supposed to see Bubba hit a ball 400 yards in the air, fly a green and think he is just good?  Are you kiddin me?

When you are ready to answer my questions and put up some money let me know.

what is "much longer?"    400 yds on the fly?  How can you be so old and yet so naive?    I will bet you up to a million dollars that within the next 10 years there will be a huge scandal like there was in baseball catching PGA golfers using PEDS. When you are ready to put up let me know. I cant believe people are so naive and clueless. It has happened in every sport and once that sport cracked down the results went back to normal. How can anything think Jack is 80 yards shorter than Bubba freakin Watson? A beer drinking golfer who likely has never seen a gym! lmao   Do you think it is a coincidence that when MLB cracked down the home run results went back 20 years?   Duhhhhhhhh

Jamie Sadlowski , 5'10" 168 pounds. 445 yards. I doubt he took PEDs.

Bubba Watson on PEDs? That seems highly unlikely.

Do you think Mike Austin was ever on PEDs? 515 yards with 40 year old equipment. He's your height and possibly weight? Can you drive a ball 515 yards even once in your life?

Reteif, Ernie and Louie arent hitting the ball 400 yards which is proof I am right. When Players who are half their size are arent you smart enough to wonder?  Rory is 5 ft 8.  Baseball is a perfect example of the benefits of PEDS and how they improve speed strength and focus since a baseball player has to hit the ball at 90+ mph.  Just let me know when you are ready to come back to reality and bet me!    ALSO -  how is it that 25% of the tour players say they think Tiger was doping?

    • What brand is it? Are there actually items you can't buy online? If you want the Chinese stuff. I'd look closer to home first, even if they are also made in China. Some of the Temu stuff is stupid cheap and I'm not buying it.
    • For anyone in Europe, it seems they still got grips in stock here:  Puregrips   I may just order some myself. Having used only the Pure Pros I'm tempted to order DTX.
    • Day 323: another light day. Just putted on my mat for a bit. Working on start line and a good stroke.
    • Day 143 - Made some swings working on shallow hands in the backswing, a good weight shift, and more hip turn in the downswing.
    • Day 46: Really struggled today, maybe some fatigue from a long weekend with lots of yard work, family time, and two early rounds of golf. I just could not find the ball at all with full swings. Slow, fast, super slow, medium speed, it didn't matter. I was hitting all sorts of terrible shots; chunks, shanks, tops, pulls, pushes, basically every miss was a possibility. Stopped after about 20 balls and hit the mental reset and changed course to "still head" fundamental practice while making easy swings. Hit the ball well doing this. Stuck with it for about 15 balls, and then did a little pitching and chipping practice.
