Congrats. Excellent round. What felt better, the score? Or hitting the ball solid the whole round?

Definitely hitting the ball well. The score could have been better or worse on a dozen different holes (lipped out a bunch of 20-footers, but I drained a 45-footer for birdie on 17), but I was striking it well the whole day.

I thought that would be your answer. I feel the same way when I have a good ball striking round.

Just had maybe the best round of my life. It was at the same course as the last round, Highfields. Shot 69, -3, from the gold tees (second farthest back, 6474 yards). It wasn't my best ballstriking round, but it wasn't far off. I had a few good chips that helped out, a few good par saves, and I rolled in some birdies. Every facet of my game was solid. And the eagle on the first hole didn't hurt. 1: Good drive to the left side, slightly pulled a hybrid from 230, pin high, chipped it right in for eagle (-2). 2: Bladed the crap out of a wedge, got lucky that it landed softly on the green and rolled out to the back. Easy two putt (-2). 3: Chunked a 3-wood, but straight and I got enough roll to have a 6 iron in. Struck it well but it didn't cut like I was hoping, easy two putt (-2). 4: Low bullet 3-wood to the middle of the fairway, slightly bladed PW to the middle of the green (keeping it away from the bunker short-right and below the elevated area beyond the green), easy two putt (-2). 5: 3-iron pin high that wouldn't cut, landed in the bunker. Solid explosion shot that rolled 12 feet past, made the par save (-2) 6: Slightly tugged (really about 5 yards, the left side gives a better angle so I wasn't too upset) driver. Flushed a PW that rolled about a foot over the green. Mediocre chip to 15 feet (more rollout than I expected), drained the putt (-2) 7: Nice, high, looping cut driver off the tee to the center of the fairway. SW caught a bit thin, but it hit an upslope beyond the flag and rolled back to 40 feet. Two putted for par (-2). 8: Perfect driver, center of the fairway, nearly pin high. Soft LW lofted over a bunker to 15 feet. Easy 2 putt that just missed (-2). 9: Driver leaked a few yards into the right rough (not a bad thing since it gives a better angle). Tried to keep my hybrid left but it too leaked a bit right, short of the front-right bunker. Good pitch over the bunker to 15 feet, made the birdie (-3). 10: Didn't catch all of my driver, left it in the cross bunker. Chunked my 8 iron approach into the middle of the fairway, 20 yards short. Great pitch to 12 feet, made the par save (-3). 11: Misjudged the wind a bit, so my PW fell into the right bunker. Solid sand shot to 15, just barely missed the par save (-2). 12: Pured a hybrid to the middle of the fairway, pured a PW to 19 feet, just missed a birdie (-2). 13: I was trying to hit a soft cut over the right trees with my driver, but I set up a bit right and it cut more than I wanted to, into the 14th fairway. (I normally would have hit 3-wood, but I was feeling so good I just decided to go for it.) There were a few trees in from tot me, I judged the two on the right as being just short enough to get over with my SW. Hit a perfect baby draw right over those trees, and that spin trundled the ball left, towards the pin, to 9 feet. I still don't know how I missed the birdie putt (-2). 14: Hit a mediocre driver just to the right of where I was hoping, but still in the fairway. I only had 85 yards, but I felt like with it being so uphill, and with bunkers short, LW would be risky. Decided to hit SW, and I just got too much of it. I was about 10 yards over the green. Thought my pitch would be good but it just wouldn't stop, finished at 17 feet. Just barely missed the par save (-1). 15: Absolutely massacred a dead-perfect 3-wood, over the trees on the right to 200 yards. I was playing my 4 ion safely out to the right to avoid the water short left. Ended up about 10 yards right of the green, in the fairway. Pitch came off hotter than I wanted, and it rolled to the left side of the green. Just barely missed the birdie putt from 22 feet (-1). 16: Busted a driver to the right side, pured a PW to 17 feet. Barely missed another birdie putt from 17 feet (-1). 17: Had to squeeze a few extra yards out of my PW, managed to hit it to 7 feet. Drained it for birdie (-2). 18: Didn't quite get all my driver (last time I played the hole I had a 5-iron in, this time it was a hybrid). Great approach shot rolled up to pin high, 28 feet right. Left my eagle putt on the front lip, tap-in birdie (-3).

Birdie-birdie finish ... nice!!!!  Congrats!!!

(Gonna go out on a limb and say that all of the good hybrid shots were due to the coziness your hybrid feels whilst tucked away inside your bag with his hat on. :-P )

Hahaha. I actually added a rubber band to the sock to keep it on more tightly. I'd call it more "constricted" than "cozy" at this point. :-P
Good stuff.. A few swing videos from today. Doesn't look terrible, but I think it needs MORE of everything. Hips going forward on the backswing (and this swing might have been the best one I filmed in that respect) and then not moving forward much on the way down. Could extend better. Not really keeping my left foot down. But I'm hitting the ball well, so I'm not going to beat myself up too much. Thanks! Though to be honest, I've had that at 1.5 for a while now. I haven't played nearly enough rounds for my handicap to be particularly accurate.

Might be the camera angle partially but watch the shoulder/forearm alignment at address, could lead to the right pic, clubhead tipping out at A6.

Played a few times the past few days. Shot a 74 (+4) at George Wright on Friday, and a 76 (+4) today at Leo J. Martin. Both days my irons were absolutely awesome. I'm just really feeling it right now with my irons. Tee balls have been okay, but I've got a bit of a two-way miss going on. Been playing a hold-off sort of fade, but a few times it's turned into a slice. The slight adjustments I made at address with my irons a few weeks ago didn't really translate to my driver, in part because the range I've been going to is too short for woods. Distance has been pretty good. Had a few career long drives at some of the holes at George Wright. Short game has been up and down. The greens were so slow at Leo J. Martin that I'm just going to spend this entire week forgetting everything I thought I knew about putting.
You've done good work this year. Gonna have to put you on a tough team in August. :)
Thanks! • Yeah.  As far as remaining still, I was thinking body rotates around the spine like an axis.  Instead of pivoting, some like me, sway, come off that axis, leave weight on back foot, etc.
    • I apologize on behalf of… idiot men. Sorry about that. Next time, tell the guy to shut up. 😛  Day 553, May 8, 2024 18 holes from the whites with @rwolfe. Windy AF today, but hit some good shots. Slid back a little from where I was the previous two days, but… I can get it back. Made a pretty nifty birdie on 12 from some pretty odd places. 😄
    • The angles look fine. Get as much light as you can on the area — you want the highest shutter speed you can get. Less blur.
    • Snap @ Tour Spoon! Birdied 11 yesterday. Hit a poor iron ,stopped on edge of bunker , pitch with my lob wedge landed about 6’ away and went in. Only 12 & 14 to go, long par5’s into the prevailing wind. Might be waiting a while although I did have about 15’ on 12 after the birdie on 11, didn’t miss by much.
    • Tested the Maxfli TourS yesterday. Compared to my former ball, the Titleist AVX, I got an extra 10 yards off the driver and half a club (5-7 yards) off the irons. The combined extra yardage from the driver and fairway wood meant that on par-5s where I usually hit an 8-iron third shot, I hit a PW. It's just a smidgen softer than the AVX and seems to spin well. Some of the reviews indicated a low ball flight, but I did not notice it. I also did not observe any problems with the paint quality, which was an issue with previous Maxfli models up to and including the U series.  My previous round I tested the Bridgestone E6, a two-piece ball with a different cover. It was OK; the same distance and feel as the AVX but with less spin.
