After making my way through my golf bag this season, I think it's time to replace my old Titleist 975F that I've had for 10 years now.

I'm interested to see what you've all been playing the last few years. I'll likely use it more often off of the tee for tighter holes, so a deeper face with a penetrating ball flight would be ideal. I like the feel of the new R9, and have considered either that or the TM r7 TP, as that seems to still be a solid choice for quite a few tour players.

Anyone have a fairway wood that they are wild about?

In the Bag: TaylorMade R11 TP - TaylorMade R7 TP TS - Cleveland Halo - TM TP 2009 3-PW - Vokey SM 52 - Vokey SM 60 - Rife Barbados CS - ProV1x

On the Computer:  Analyzr Pro

You could check out the Nike VR. Much better feel/sound than previous Nikes, and the head is adjustable (if you care)

I used Callaway Steelheads for years and could not find any FWs that I liked better or performed better, until I discovered the Nike Dymo squared. I absolutely love this thing. The face shape and sole are ideal for using from the fairway. I like this thing so much that it is used from the tee more than my driver. The courses I play are fairly tight from the tee, and this thing goes right down the middle and only a few yards shy of my driver distance. I actually hit my first par 5 green under regulation Friday. The Nike off the tee and then from the fairway and a little roll onto the front of the green, but I three putted for par. I am not trying to steer you away from the TM, but take a look at the Nikes.

I love both my current fairways. My Cleveland Launcher 15* (hated their driver - in case you wondered - you probably didn't) and my Titleist 980F 19* 5-wood are both good off the tee and from the fairway.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

Love my Mizuno F60, and I use it off the tee pretty often... It's a pretty small head, so I wouldn't describe it as a 'deep face' by any means, but I looooove the feel of it at impact.

Currently in my bag:  Under Revision

I'm playing the r9, it's the first 3 wood i've ever really got on with. It is hard for me to not hit it straight, I hit it so well I bought an R9 driver to go with it but I sold that because of it's lack of forgiveness on off centre hits. It doesn't have a very deep face so that may be a drawback for you if it's mainly to be used off the tee. Give it a demo along with a Titleist 909.

I'm a big fan of my current woods. The Geek gear is excellent quality and far better value than OEM stuff. The 3W is a pretty powerful 15°. Classic shape and good off both tee and fairway. Good, solid sound on impact as well. Head cost about $50 new; marry it with whatever shaft you fancy.

My all-time favourite OEM 3W is the old Taylor Made 200 series 15°. Superb.

I played the Titleist 980F 15 degree and switched to the Taylor Made R7 15 degree and I switch back to the Titleist 980 fairway wood since my son uses my Taylor Made. I found that the Titlesit has a more solid feel at impact. The Taylor Made is more forgiving but I choose the Titleist.

I play Founders Clubs. As you will find out, you will receive as many answers as there are brand names. What is there now, six posts and six different answers? Choose what looks best and forget what everyone says is best. Founders Clubs are inexpensive and I can't tell the difference in them and a Ping G-10, for what that's worth. Just as good as any answer though. It always more how you swing, and not the club, that is until they come out with one that takes itself out of the bag and swings for you. The most important thing is to choose the right flex. The next most important thing is to choose the right ball. Pro V1's are not for everybody.

Just got my first 3 wood I've ever owned last weekend.

Cobra S9-1.

I tested a bunch out, and I kept coming back to the Cobra. As you can probably tell, I'm a bit partial to Nike, but I pulled the trigger on the Cobra based solely on appearance and performance.

I was booming the dang thing just short of 260 yards my first time out w/ it.

As someone mentioned earlier, my home course can be pretty narrow. I can get erratic w/ the driver at times, so this 3 wood is the perfect back up to hit instead of the driver when I'm having a bad day w/ it or I'm playing a hole where I have to be dead center in the fairway.

I'm really taking a liking to my Callway X 15* Fairway Wood. The steel shaft is not ideal but for $90, it was a deal and half. I'll eventually replace the shaft but for now, i'm still hitting it well.

    • Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.
    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
