I wear what ever matches my shirt. I usually wear UK logo Hats (big Univ of Kentucky fan) but not 100%. I will also swap from Cap to visor it just according how hot it gets here. I really don't care to much what other people wear on there head but i won't were a golf related hat that I don't use anything that they make. I play at a municipal corse and all that is required is sleeves on the shirts so I don't look much at attire. I like to dress in a polo and shorts but I will play with pretty much anyone as long as there not rude or drunk ( our course had to ban beer because it got so bad)

I don't see why you couldn't wear a team cap. As for me, If I'm going golfing, I'll wear a golf cap. If I'm going to a baseball game, I'll wear a baseball cap.

heaven forbid if someone matches their golf bag to their club brand...but we MUST match our hat to our clothes, belt to our shoes, etc.

kinda silly if you ask me. I wear a white nike cap with sweat stains and all kinds of dirtiness on it. Been wearing it for 4 years now.

I don't have one single golf manufacturer branded hat or clubhead cover. You've got enough human billboards on TV as it is and they get paid for it. On the course, I've got enough company logos on my bag, clubheads, etc... I don't feel like putting on another item that makes me look like a human billboard.

I can see more why people wear sports team caps as they have an emotional investment in the team, the city, the players, school, history, memories, etc...

I wear a white Jets hat on the course. No sense paying $25 for a golf specific hat when I've got a perfectly fine Jets hat to wear.

Buddy let me tell you...I have an emotional investment on clubs..... I have no issues with wearing Titleist or TM hats, but I won't wear a Nike or cally or Cleveland hats, for the simple reason I don't sport those brands. I feel that If I'm going to wear it I might as well have a word to say about the product I am endorsing. I don't like nike golf products (clothing excluded I do wear it) but as for branding my head with a hat with a huge swoosh while playing golf is not going to happen.

I have to like the product in order for me to wear something about it.

Is that photo depicting an actual gang fight in bad taste? The mean streets are even meaner when the gang colours include khaki and pale yellow.

Jets? Sharks? Jets vs Sharks? Am I really that old?

Wow... a lot of guys here have issues if you're really bothered by the clothes and/or accessories that others wear.

When I got my Odyssey Sabertooth putter... I really liked it. I wrote to Odyssey/Callaway and expressed as much. In return, they sent me a nice Odyssey logo'd hat. I didn't ask for it... I just stated that I was really enjoyed putting with the club I purchased. I wear the hat (it's brown and beige) when I wear a tan colored polo. That doesn't make me a 'fanboy' or anything of the sort. It just looks good.

On the other side of that... I was at a local course and I saw a really nice Adidas belt and buckle combination. I mentioned it to my wife, and that night, we were watching a Golf Channel telecast and saw a guy wearing the exact combo I saw. Later that week, my wife ordered it for me. Yes... I will ONLY wear it when I'm wearing my Powerbands. Again, that doesn't make me a 'fanboy'. I just like appearing presentable. It has NO bearing on the way I play (obviously)... but I FEEL comfortable when I match.

I've also got Nike belts for when I wear my Dri-Fit shirts. My bag is a Nike bag and my irons are Nike Slingshots. Again... not a 'fanboy'.

If it really bothers people that I wear that stuff... maybe I'll do it more and put guys off their game because they're bothered by the glare off my Adidas belt buckle or the Cleveland head cover on my driver, the Callaway head cover on my 3 wood or the Nike head covers on my CPR hybrids. Maybe it's the fact that I'm wearing an Adidas ClimaCool polo AND Adidas Powerband shoes that's bothering them. Either way... I don't see why.

I'm not a walking billboard or anything of the sort. What I am is comfortable and well dressed.

Personally, I wouldn't wear what Ricky Fowler wears on the golf course. Others have said they like it. I think he looks like a douche. It's personally preference. Period. If he's comfortable and the people who wear similar apparel are comfortable... good for them.

I think it's hilarious guys actually get riled up about what others wear. Like a group of 16 year old girls going to the prom who are worried about someone else looking better.

I am the other way around, I think its kinda lame to wear a "titleist" or "Taylormade" type hats, when I see that I think "oh look at this tool he thinks hes a pro or something." When I see a guy with a Yankees, or Knicks, or MICHIGAN (Go blue) cap, I think, okay this guy is a so and so fan. My michigan cap is my FAVORITE cap, ive had it for years, and there are sweat stains on the bill to prove it lol.

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
