What the hell is up with that putting style? This is getting out of hand.

I wonder if experimenting that much with the grip and style is really useful. Look at Vijay, he's been through a host of styles, but they rarely stick.

Didn't get to see KJ, are there any videos out there?

All I know is he plays pretty well the first couple of rounds and then falls off. I don't know if his putter is the problem but this is a extreme change to make mid season. He seems to be not too bad with it.

Funny how the pro´s get down on "our" level of thinking when they putt bad - its the equipment, its the grip, its the putting style. Yeah i slice every club 150y right so i guess i need some of this new equipment that lets me set my clubface 10° shut so i can hit a nice "penetrating" draw........... LOOOOL

Was surprised to see this yesterday while watching a little golf on TV. I thought KJ was a solid putter, why the change? Take a look is this the new thing now?

I came up with that two years ago, tried it for an entire summer. Used a belly length putter. I found my aim was good, buy I was unable to develop a very good feel for speed. It's basically like a bowling stance or pitching horse shoes. It looks like Choi has his right food forward, I did it with my left foot forward (again, like bowling). I have since settled on a fairly short putter (33") and have an open stance and have been putting very good, I don't even worry about those 5-6 foot par saves anymore. If I've read it right, it goes in.

Maybe he should have stuck with his old putter. He got cut.

Sam Snead tried the same style around the end of his golfing career. KJ didn't putt bad enough to resort to this thing.

Looks absolutely ridiculous. I sometimes wonder what goes through their minds; does he genuinely believe it's a long term fix for his putting 'problems'? Redundant.

I thought they made that style of putting illegal, or is that just when the ball is in between your legs like Snead had it? I know the style of putting Sam Snead used is supposedly illegal now. But KJ, oh man, that's just wrong on so many levels.

It's not illegal, no, and if you asked people to roll a ball to the hole they'd probably adopt a posture quite a bit like Choi's. Perhaps the way we putt is not ideal... and people only putt the way they do for fear of ridicule.

Playing devil's advocate a bit. Except for the "legality" part.

    • Day 297: putted for about 25 minutes, working on 30 foot putts. Then went and hit balls for about an hour, just focused on getting the ball to go where I want it. Not my best session, but figured it out better at the end.
    • I do use a 7 wood. Love it! Do have a specific question about 7 woods?
    • @DrizZzY does. 😄
    • does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>
    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
