not gonna lie iv gotten into plenty of places. if you walk around like you know what your doing. dont ask questions and dont look confused and youl be fine. just make sure you dress properly, most people at private courses dress in all name brand clothes so if you dress in name brand clothes you will be mistaken for a member usually.

Absolutely agree. I "sneak" onto my local course late in the evening for a few holes when I can. The trick is to be dressed for the occasion, stroll up to the first tee, and smack one down the fairway. No one bats an eyelid.

But then the pro shop closes at 7:30pm and I'll tee off at 8, meaning I couldn't pay for my round even if my wanted to. I played a few days ago with a group of friends at our favourite course. We'd all paid, were given receipts and set off. Later we got to the 16th and were approached by some old chap in a cart, looking to check our receipts. My partners showed theirs, but I couldn't find mine (I'd hidden it in a pocket on my bag, where the tees go). For those two minutes of going through all of my pockets, I was bricking it lol.

24, what does it matter?

Calm down dude. You just have to realize that the rods up some of the peep's butts have rods up their butts.

I wouldn't sneak on a course but it is interesting to hear the stories however if you are caught I wouldn't feel sorry for you either....

Years ago, I lived two blocks from Country Club A, and about a mile from Country Club B. Rumor was that if the greens crew found someone who had sneaked on, they would confiscate your golf clubs and have you arrested for trespassing.

Jesus Christ, criminal? Really?

Are you in need of a dictionary? Yes, criminal.

I'm not talking about stealing the neighbors car or breaking and entering.

Trespassing seems to be pretty close to breaking and entering.

Rules were also meant to be broken or else they wouldn't be called rules.

Do tell... What is it about the arrangement of the letters "R-U-L-E-S" that make it such that "rules" are meant to be broken? There's nothing inherent in "laws" or "rules" that make them "meant to be broken." Try that on a cop the next time you get a speeding ticket. Or steal from someone... or whatever other "rules" and "laws" you choose not to follow.

Call me a criminal if you want for stepping over a fence to see a top 10 course in the world that I will otherwise never have the chance to see in my lifetime, but you won't find me feeling bad about it anytime soon.

I'm afraid that speaks to your moral character, not mine.

Enjoy playing the muni the rest of your life.

Nice assumption... and a wrong one at that.

I'm tempted to close this thread for your own sake, but another part of me thinks you're getting a bit of what you deserve. Golf is a game of integrity and honor. Your posts and this thread is a testament to the fact that you seem to have very little of either.

Now I'm just confused. I'm getting what I deserve? Pretty sure I made it clear earlier I didn't care whether people thought it was right or wrong to sneak on a course. I apologize if my passion to play a world renowned course has offended you and I'm sorry you've found the negative side of everything that was meant to be fun about this topic.

Spare me all the "unethical behavior" or "thats stealing" talk because I could really care less. This thread should be interesting and fun to read the stories of those golfers passionate enough to risk getting in a little trouble to say they've played some of the best courses we're not allowed to.

People should just start a topic with the word 'golf' and leave the rest blank because no matter what caveats or directions or assumptions or acknowledgements you put in a topic to stop it going one way, you just know someone will go off on their own merry way.

Actually Iacas I would not be surprised though if you would be duty bound to close a topic like this if you feel the way you do about it.

I'd love to play a world renowned course too. I'd also love to be welcomed as passing though the gates, be able to walk into the clubhouse through the front doors, and have a drink on the deck afterwards. All without looking over my shoulder.

... referring to the fact that not everyone is happy to let you skate on the - at best - "inappropriate" behavior you've glamorized to yourself.

Pretty sure I made it clear earlier I didn't care whether people thought it was right or wrong to sneak on a course.

So you expect everyone will just keep their mouths shut if you start a thread asking how best to steal gum from the convenience store so long as you tell people you don't care if they think stealing is inappropriate?

I apologize if my passion to play a world renowned course

It's not "passion." You've gotta be joking - or have you rationalized it to yourself so much that you truly see it that way?

Still missing the point...fail. You're right, I'd much rather prefer to sneak on than be invited. I'll be sure to turn down that next invite to Cypress Point.

People aren't going off on their own merry way - they are just disagreeing with the premise of the OP. The very fact that he put that disclaimer in meant he fully expected some backlash. Too bad you can't go on to a public internet forum and tell people who disagree with you they aren't allowed to post, huh?

That's hilarious? Are you serious? YOU are the one MISSING THE POINT. You want something, you work for it and get it. You don't steal, you don't trespass, you don't take some easy road out. I pray to God everyone your age doesn't have your sense of right and wrong.

I can sort of see the appeal - I can imagine turning imaginary double plays with a couple buddies at Wrigley or pounding a batting practice fastball over the green monster. I'd love to be invited though, because I think sneaking on and hitting balls where I'm not wanted would be hollow and would pretty much ruin any chance of playing there again.

Where does it end? I'd love to get a boat, but can't afford one right now. Should I go to a marina and take someone else's out for a day at the lake because I really, really want to? How about a house - mine is getting to be a bit small now that I have a kid. Should I sneak into a new larger one that hasn't been sold yet?

About as long as it takes you to buy that Ferrari you've always wanted. Or the mansion. Or the private jet.

Talk about missing the point... You seem to have missed the point of life. It's not about wanting and taking - it's about being happy. If you can't be happy without breaking rules and laws, then there's something wrong with you.

Just a guess but I would say somewhere around 1500 years if you have a normal job and save 50% of your earnings.

To contribute when I was a kid I played holes at the local muni with my friend in the middle of the night. Not a private course so didn't really have to sneak but hey. We played 'Don't hit it too far you will never find it - matchplay". PS always replaced divots and fixed ball marks I am a decent man I promise.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1. Β  All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense? Β  Thanks.
