When someone spends time posting then finds that post was dropped or does not show up, it is very frustrating.
I will think about not posting anymore rather than waste my time.
If you don't want certified, qualified teachers to post, keep it up.

Uh, no idea what you're talking about. Got anything specific? No? FWIW I haven't been on yet until now today.

If you're an instructor you should tell us so we can put the tag on your account.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with anything we're doing. You're probably goofing up.

http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...l=1#post501887

You need to click the "Post Quick Reply" button or the "Post" button, not the "Reply to Thread" button.

In that thread where you specifically complain about your post not showing up, NOBODY deleted anything. I checked through the history for the thread. You never properly submitted a post. That thread's only six hours old - I was online three hours ago when I posted my above response and I'm online now, three hours later. Nothing was deleted or removed - you failed to actually post your thoughts.

So, no one has ever told you their posts didn't show up? I certainly know how to post-see my other posts-but for some reason my post yesterday got lost. I did hit the post quick reply but later noticed the post did not show. Ok, for now I will just watch and see what happens.

I've not experienced anything similar, except when server doesn't respond or my browser locks up. Then the text in the Quick Reply section won't recover if I hit "Back". But that's not the forums fault.

When I make what I would consider a long post I just copy it in case the server doesn't respond or something. When your post isn't shown it's usually the computer, not the site.

Are you talking about posts disappearing after you've seen them - like a few minutes or hours later? Thread detours are often removed starting with the first post that veered off the road and onto the shoulder. Pretty standard forum fare I would imagine.

Regarding posts that just get lost on the way to the site, yeah copy the text first if you're making a long post would be my suggestion.

Or hit Go Advanced then Preview Post. I had a time about a month ago where my fingers just kept touching my trackpad while I was typing so I would click outside the text box and not notice. When I would then hit the delete key it went back a page so everything was lost.

OK. I've _never_ had the forum "drop" a post on me. I've had it freeze up (about three times ever) and I know some people have taken so long to write a response that they've been logged out in the meantime so they "lose" their post that way, but the forum has never just "dropped" a post.

I'm 99% certain that's not the kind he's talking about. He's talking about posts being made and simply not "getting posted." "Dropped," not "deleted."

One other thing, too... this behavior (replying to posts) DID change from vBulletin 3.x to 4.x. We've been on 4.x for awhile now but if you're not on the forum as much it may take a little more time to get used to it. I know some people at first had to take a little time to get used to it.

I know a couple times (actually, the last time I posted, silly me) I've hit the reply to thread button after using quick reply to something I quoted. It's not a drop, but it may seem like it. ;)

What's in my Tartan Precise TS-869 Bag:
Woods: Northwestern 1W, 3W, stock grip
Hybrids: 855 Graphite shaft 3H, 4H, Golf Pride Tour Wrap midsize grips
Irons: 855 R flex steel shaft 5-PW, Golf Pride Tour Wrap midsize grips
Wedges: PureSpin Tour Series Diamond Face 52* AW, 56* SW, 60* LW, Golf Pride...

Occasionally I'll hit Post Quick Reply after typing in my post and the cursor turn into the blue spinny thing (Windows 7 with Google Chrome), but when that happens I just quickly copy my writing then click refresh at the top of the page and it goes through. Works every time, the copying is just in case.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15ΒΊ 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17ΒΊ 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19ΒΊ 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54ΒΊ SW, 60ΒΊ LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

I've never lost a post (except due to the, IMO, poor placement of the "Reply to Thread" button that begs you to press it when you quick-reply if you're in a hurry).

I have had very frequent problems with a quick reply taking a long time (10-20 seconds rather than almost instant), then getting an error message warning me that I cannot post again until at least 30 seconds (or similar) have passed, despite my only ever pressing the post button once. In this case the message is always posted. I'd say this happens with 1/3 to 1/2 of my posts.

But as I said, I've never lost a post due to a forum error. Keiko, what browser are you using on what OS? The forum seems to be using more advanced scripting than it used to, so perhaps there's a problem with a particular browser? If not that, it sounds like user error to me.

Harmonized 52Β° GW, Tom Watson 56Β° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60Β° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

There's a term techies like myself use to describe these problems, it's called "PICNIC"

"Problem in Chair, not in Computer".

No offense, just sayin'.

PEBKAC - Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair

If we had to speak about a problem like this to someone nearby, we'd call it an "Eye Dee Ten Tee" problem, as in "ID" and "10" and "T." Y'know, an ID10T problem.

But no, this stuff isn't an ID10T problem... the software changed from 3.x to 4.x and everyone's had to get used to it. If you don't post much, it takes longer to get used to it.
