congrats. I have enough trouble playing with people watching me, let alone in a toruney.

Especially at the 1st tee box where you have a lot of spectators. LoL.

The best way to get used to it is to put yourself in those situations.

Yea I do the same. First tee is always the one I'm never able to get off. Even if the course starter is the only guy watching I usually hit a little topped dribbler into the rough in front of the tee box. ugh, it's brutal. I just can't play with strangers watching me.

Try and win it next year right handed.

First, congrats on shooting a round under scratch. Congrats on following it up by playing under your handicap. Now see if you can get the type of handicap you have to explain to most people: the one that begins with a +. This will get you plenty of wins in club tournaments. And hey -- the Canadian Open is only a few (a little more than 10) months away.

I've never been part of a club? Is this only at country clubs or are they also held at public courses?

Congrats, what a great accomplishment.

By the way, what do you usually "win" by winning a club championship? A trophy or plaque of course, but anything else that is usually standard with winning one of these? I would be totally fine with just a trophy and the title of Club Champion, but I was just curious.

There are plenty of golf clubs that aren't even affiliated with a course. A large chain of golf shops around these parts operates one, for instance. Then there are usually golf clubs associated with a public course -- for example, I'm part of the Rancho Park Golf Club, which plays many "home" tournaments at Rancho Park Golf Course, one of the busiest municipal courses in the country.

I won a personal trophy ( made of glass, tall rectangle with a circle on the top), also $250 to the pro shop and i get my name on the trophy that stays within the clubhouse.

When I was in university, I'd play squash with this guy on a regular basis. While we played, people would pass by, sometimes stopping to watch. I really hated that, and it affected my game. One day my opponent said, "When people stop to watch, I love it. My goal is to play so well that they keep watching."

He was right. Ever since then, I try to emulate that sentiment. Some days it's easier said than done. Nonetheless, on the range or on the course, if people are watching, I always welcome it and try to raise my game. Congrats to the OP.

Congrats on the win. I hope to be able to win my club championship one day. Gonna have to drop a "few" strokes to be able to do it.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
