I'm currently working on getting the hips more forward, more of an in to out path. I've been hitting alot of pushes and my divots are pointing right, but the thing I'm wondering about is why there is no draw?

If the divot points right, the path is in to out relative to the target path, there should be some draw, no? And not just a little, it should draw alot if the divots are pointing way right, but I'm getting just 1 or 2 yards of draw if any.

You are forgetting about the angle of the club face.

Isn't the clubface angle causing the push? The face is open, so it starts right. The clubpath going right relative to target should bend it left (for a righty), no?

Need open club face relative to target and closed club face relative to swing path for a push-draw. Your club face at impact is probably almost square to the swing path which is an easy fix.

You're problem is you're clubface is lets just say 10 degrees OPEN at impact. You're swing path is ALSO 10 degrees OPEN.

To draw the ball right back at you're target line (assuming no wind) with a 10 degree push, you would need a 20 degree in to out path.

The other alternative is closing that face down slightly so you are hitting a 5 degree push with a 10 degree in to out path. But hey if you can do that consistently you're probably a scratch or better.

That makes sense. I did just weaken my grip and am also undoing a bowed left wrist at the top, getting it more neutral. Maybe I'm overdoing it.

Thinking of the clubface relative to the target path, not the swing path.

You've got it, but yes, you're just hitting straight pushes. Shot H:

lol I came across this on youtube. Looks like Eriks question got on the TV show

Yeah, more info on that is here:

Way to go, first result on Google search. That's big. Maybe it might be worth buying an ad there for Golf Evolution?

Yeah, for some reason, I misremembered the ball flight laws article - subbed target path for swing path. Before SnT, I'd probably manipulate my hands, but this time I'm not going to consciously do anything with the hands through the impact zone. Right now, I'll just make sure I keep the clubface a little more closed throughout the swing.

I'm a lefty, so it's backwards for me, but I've experienced this.....

I occasionally have this miss. USUALLY, for me it's with the long clubs. For me, it happens because my hands get behind my turn and I don't square the clubface. It's a stuck-push/block...whatever you want to call it. It's a tempo issue in the backswing which screws up my whole weight transition and everything. A mental error that causes a physical error.

Hate to still the thread here but what's the RIGHT cure for a push-fade? (SnT swing) I know I'm not coming over the top, I rarely ever pull the ball or slice (pull-fade I think?) it but I never hook it either. I sometimes baby draw it.

Does this mean I'm swinging to far on the back side of the circle and my club face is too open? I found having a stronger right hand grip (I'm a right sided swinger), with the heel pad going directly over my left thumb helps but is that a band-aid over a bullet wound fix?

I'm guessing if you're still fading ever so slightly, your swingpath is still a tad out to in. If you make it go in to out, you'll hit a push draw.

I don't know if you cannot be over the top and still swing out to in, but I'd also guess the way to fix it, the correct non band-aid way is to swing in to out - doing what my original post mentioned, aggressive move forward with the hips first.

Well I can't say for sure since without a video but your clubface is probably opening up more than you want somewhere in the swing and stays open at impact. You probably get the baby draws when you happen to close it up. If you compensate for the push fade through alignment you can play that way until you have things sorted it. Just don't be like a friend of mine who insists that he aim down the middle even though his miss is a slice.

I usually aim pretty far left and now that I think of it, I probably hit alot more push fades than pull fades. To me it "feels" and looks at address like Im swinging straight back and through so its deceiving. I could see I was going out to in from the ball flight but video really opened my eyes to it.

If the push is not big (i.e. the right amount of push for a push-draw) it means you're not hitting the back side of the circle enough. If the push is too big, the face is too far open.

If it's the latter, the fix is likely easy. If it's the former, you're probably not linear and are too open at impact.

you're probably not linear
