I'll keep this debate short and sweet. I beleive we will never see the Tiger of 2000.. Back Then he could crush anyone who played with him. And his swing was perfect. Now he has built so much muscle over the last ten years he can't find his old swing from the early days when he was a GOD. Hank Haney said Tiger know more about the golf swing then anyone in the world. Yet he can get his back.. It because he has muscle now where it was not in his prime. It's one thing to train so stay healthy and fit. But he trains like a football player and it change the best golf swing God has ever made..I'm a huge Tiger fan and want him to win again but he was on his way to 24 or more majors.. But now with his body changed he's just the toughest mental golfer alive with a still good swing that can get him 2 or 3 majors that's it. Not with all the new guys coming Look out fof Dustin and Rory and Kim and Many Many more young guys who grew up loving tiger and not affraid to play him like to old guys Tider beat up when he first came up.. So did tiger ruin his swing with all the weights and muscle gains ?????

He dominated golf mostly because of is talent and dedication, not because the swing was perfect.
He does not know more about the swing than anyone in the world.
He does not want to revert to his old swing, partly because it involved a lot of timing, partly because it caused him to damage his knee.
His physical strength and muscles is not the reason for why he has not been as dominant the last two years.

the funny thing is tiger isn´t even big or that in shape.

Anyone with a somewhat athletic base can look like him within 3 months of hitting the gym and eating right.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

Woods still snaps that left knee though. I can't tell to what degree. Maybe not as much now?

I think it is very interesting that Tiger is working with Sean Foley (unofficially) because Sean doesn't teach the S&T; exactly but he instills allot of the S&T; ideas into how he thinks one should swing the club...and I may be mistaken but I thought I heard or read somewhere that Sean learned allot from Bennet and Plummer...the S&T; creators. I think this is a great swing pattern and even though I know Tiger is not doing the S&T; exactly I see parts of it in his swing as far as staying stacked over the ball more, etc...

I don't know what effect his training had on his swing, but I believe it made him a better golfer. Tiger is an athlete, he is well conditioned, and I'm sure focuses on core strength training, and flexibility. While he's muscular, he's not so muscular that it would inhibit his swing and again he's likely doing yoga or pilates to ensure he doesn't lose flexibility.

He's had injuries and he's older, that's the more likely reason than training.

Not only is he really not all that big (I've heard that it's partially because golf requires more fast-twitch muscles, which you don't really strengthen by bulking up), but his swing in 2000 was FAR from perfect. As others have said, he's also 10 years older.

Give the other guys credit, competition is tougher than it was 10 years ago. No longer can Tiger win just by showing up. Who was there to challenge him back then? The European players are much better as well, look at the majors results and the world rankings. I equate Tiger much like Jeff Gordon in Nascar(minus the scandal). Jeff Gordon from 1995 to about 2002 was the best and now he cant even win a race, much like Tiger cant even win a tournament. Both are still good, just everyone else is just better and its hard to simply win at all any more.

ehh, I see your comparision to jeff gordon but who knows why jeff gordon stopped winning? Tiger was winning until this whole scandel thing broke out last year, only time will tell what happens next

I think Tiger only won one event after returning from knee surgery prior to the scandal so I'm not sure we can blame it all on the scandal.

thats not true. He won the 08 U.S. Open Championship two months after his surgury then took a little break to heal more. He then went on to win the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational , win the 09

Memorial Tournament, win the 09 AT&T; National, win the 09 Buick Open, won the 09 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational , won the 09 Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, won the 09 BMW championship, won the 09 FedEx Cup, was a member of the victorious 09 U.S. Presidents Cup team, won the 09 JBWere Masters at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia, the in the end of 09 Announced on Dec. 11 that he would take an indefinite break from professional golf to deal with personal matters Only 1 win since his last knee surgury, hahahah

I'll propose a new question: Did the scandal ruin Tiger's game and mojo?

2005: 6 wins, 2 majors, #1 on money list
2006: 8 wins, 2 majors, #1 on money list
2007: 7 wins, 1 major, #1 on money list
2008: 4 wins, 1 major, #2 on money list (season ended prematurely)
2008: Knee injury, out of golf for a long time
2009: 6 wins, 0 majors, #1 on money list
2009: Scandal hits him
2010: 0 wins, 0 majors, #62 on money list

What about this: the biggest effect the scandal had on him was time. What I mean by that is before it happened, he used the winter to relax a bit, but he also used it to make necessary swing changes. This year he didn't and, because his swing was so much based on timing, all of the faults caught up to him when he wasn't playing daily to keep his timing up. I still don't think the mental aspect has much of an affect on him (or many people, really) when he was actually out on the course, but the time and effort off the course that it took up likely had an affect. Just a thought.

I stand corrected, I used the wrong date of the surgery. Sorry

Zeph beat me to it. I think this is the more likely scenario. Tiger has lost his confidence and there are now some golfers that grew up watching Tiger and aren't afraid to challenge him. People often ask..."Will there ever be another or anyone as good as Tiger?". The answer is NO...there will be 10 of them just as good, but they will be beating each other up and only post 1/10 of the wins as Tiger.

Tiger's swing was never perfect...it was very good. Tiger believed it was perfect and he had a bunch of confidence. Also, it seemed like Tiger usually made at least a few bomb (25ft+) putts every time he won. It seems to me that his confidence has been stomped and he's dealing with alot of stuff outside of golf. He misses some putts he's used to making, he starts pressing, now he's trying to hit every shot to within 8-10ft, now he misses in stupid spots, makes a few bogeys...it's a bad cycle to get into. My prediction...Tiger will work very hard on his game in 2011 and win at least 4 tournaments and 1 major next year.

Tiger hurt his knee a long time ago and it was not from his former swing -- just a point of clarification.
