Was wondering how many of you are if any ..? How many of you guy's have a golf swing thats not very good or maybe even not quite decent , but just don't care about improving it that much and really just go out and play the game ?

I have never been happy about my swing and never really tried overhauling it since I never liked going to the range. Until late this year I used to take whatever swing that I had on that given day and played. This caused my scores to be really inconsistent at times until my short game improved to make up for the bad shots at times. I plan on finally taking that step in improving my swing to be somewhat consistent and it's already showing some signs of improvement.

I guess my swing is pretty good, but I've never been happy with it. I've always been constantly looking to improve, and the best way to do that is to create a better swing. I guess you could say that I'm a tinkerer. Even as a kid playing Little League baseball I would change up my swing every few weeks, looking for an advantage. Golf is the same way.

I always get comments when I play with people about how "nice" my swing is. I appreciate it but I have no clue what they mean. But to answer your question, no I am not presently happy with my swing. I have made a few changes this year and I've lost some distance and havent gained the accuracy I'm looking for. My next move is lessons, which I should've done months ago.

My swing is not very good and I am certainly not happy with it. I actually practice a lot more than I play, so I'm pretty much the opposite of what you're asking.

I was happy with my swing before I took a few lessons last spring. After the lessons - slightly happier. Currently - generally happy with the swing.

I was happy with it. But i've got some time now so i'm overhauling it for the first time.

My three keys-create width, get it on plane/club aimed at target at top, & eliminate the OTT move. Completely self taught. I'll wait until spring & if i'm really a mess then i'll take a lesson. Maybe.

So far my practice swings in the yard & house have been good, albeit in slightly slower motion. By the looks of it when i get to the range i'm going to be pushing alot of balls for awhile.

It really depends on when you ask me....

Other than when I'm on the golf course I'm not a huge fan of my swing... I still come OTT a bit and its lacking good lag but..... on the course I'm happy most of the time with my swing

The way I see it... when you step on the first tee all thoughts of your swing should go out the window and your sole focus should be in getting the ball into the hole with the least number of shots.... After 10 lessons and countless range sessions with very little scoring improvement it was forgetting my swing on the course that actually brought my score down...

Ive learned to be happy with mine. You see..ive never had a lesson yet I have a 5hcp with the swing I have. The only time my swing isnt good enough is when im reading all these golf boards. Then I go out and try some tip and screw it all up. Then all of a sudden I dont like my swing.

I'm happy with my good swings. When it is working, I can hit it far enough and pretty accurate. But when it is off, it gets pretty wild and I feel like a bad player. I've recently gotten better IE not hooking and pulling/hooking irons. Before the end of this year I had a big issue with missing greens right and bad. I moved the ball up in the stance a touch, stay down through the shot and don't fire through the ball too hard and I hit dead straight irons. My driver has been off recently but when I get it working I can hit one after another long and straight. But it is hurting me a bit. I only play 9 now a couple of times a week and I only hit 2 or 3 fairways a time but then hit 4 or 5 greens which is good for me.

I wish I new what created my bad shots and could avoid them. But my good swings, they are good enough.

I've always hated my swing. Short backswing with no wristbreak. But after many years of meeting single digit handicaps with worse swings than mine. I've just learned to except it. I believe the only thing that determines a good swing from a bad swing is repeatability, consistency. There are just too many great champions with unorthodox swings. Watch Moe Norman videos online.

I am happy with my swing, and many people have commented on how smooth my swing looks. I have always been very good at picking up new activities. Almost like "jack of all traits but master at none (i.e., golf)".

right now i'm very happy. a few weeks ago i started a thread cause i was hitting it fat way too much. the advice i got from the sandbaggers was excellent. i took the 2 most promising tips, and have been practising at a grass range with them. i'm super happy with where i am now. my biggest problem is fully understanding my yardage with each club, and my horrid short game (which i'm working on, i swear!!).

anyway, yes, i'm happy with my swing right now.

In my Grom Stand bag:

Driver: Ping G20, 8.5 Tour Stiff

Irons: R9 5I - SW, TM CGB LW

Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi-Mid

Favorites: Old Ranch (Seal Beach), Ike/Babe (Industry Hills), Skylinks (Long Beach), Desert Willow (Palm Desert)

I'm not happy with it, but I'm getting around the course okay.

I really want to improve some physical stuff...losing 20 and getting a little stronger. Once I get that done, I'll look at my swing more seriously. I have a feeling, better physical condition is going to alleviate some of the issues I'm having, though.

    • I generally like par-3 courses and find it a darn shame that the last of them closed in my area during the pandemic. Part of it may have to do with the fact that I never have been very good with the longer clubs, so the short holes are a bit more my speed.  Being able to get in 18 holes in two hours was pretty convenient and, ironically, the lack of crowds made them peaceful places to be. Naturally, that's the same reason they no longer exist around here.  The second option sounds like a whole lot of no fun.
