Whoa, absolutely BOMBED the 3 wood on 8!

40 feet or so downhill.

One of the best posts I've seen to solidify the book information. Perhaps this could be on the LSW website somehow as a tool to try for readers on their next round(s).

Okay, but in what capacity? It's kind of a mess, IMO. So how would you format it to post it to the site?

Just the summary and recommendations for people to look at things by averaging their scores and looking at the SV ratings for each? If that, I may do it later tonight.

I thought it might be close as is, with maybe an introductory thing about "how to put it all together," or "putting your reading into action," or a "final exam." Challenge your readers to track the values that you did for a round or two or seven, and do the averages themselves. When I read your post, it really helped me see a practical way to put the framework you've written about into practice. Just a great example. Seems simple now, but I hadn't thought to do that (not that I've played much lately).

Sorry, may have been mentioned before. Does it take into slope readings? Example: par 3 that is about 205 uphill. I hit the green which should have been a 200 yard shot but it says 185.

No, probably not. But you'd have to ask them…

Your shot probably went 185 yards "horizontally."

Shot 58 (15 holes, Kahkwa) today.

Didn't hit any good shots, really. Good short game shots. Made a nice putt on a par three.

Still working on the four-stage swing:

  1. Go to 2 by folding right elbow.
  2. TURN from there.
  3. Down with clubhead inside, hands traveling out.
  4. Finish (still feeling as if swinging out).

Just can't overdo the folding to 2 because then i get narrow. 2 to 4 has to feel wide and JUST a turn.

Constantly getting a little bit better. Left arm in a bit more than I'd like but this is the pump, and I do that by letting the right elbow go a bit too far around since I pump with just my arms (I don't turn my body when I pump from 6).

I started at the first video in the thread of this Iacas swing. Looks like a good abbreviated, compact swing. Consistent looking. The unfinished follow through reminds me of Roy Mcavoy.

Thanks.

I'll disagree that it's unfinished, though. :-)

Really does look good. I like the swing plane and consistency I can tell it produces. I was just mentioning the follow through part looking unfinished like Tin Cup. Thought maybe you were hitting a punch stinger here to keep it down in the winds of west Texas like Roy. I love that movie.

That swing is nearly four years old and I was doing a drill. This thread has 23 pages. :)

Nice idea for a training aid. We have those foam rollers at my gym.  I will use it next time.

I hit on a little something in this swing that is going to be good… Just a little sequencing stuff in transition that I can focus on.

To the point of changing the darn picture…

I was basically trying to hit the ball with the back of the club and/or the back of the hosel. So, the backswing and some other things are a bit different than normal. But… look at the changes in transition and at 6.

Now that is something I haven't seen before. I see the plane shallows out quite a bit in downswing almost Hogan like. A good exercise for fixing a pull I'm guessing, but doesn't it sting hitting a ball this way? Or are you using foam balls?

    • Fantastic selection! And very little driving between them. Fingers crossed the weather is good to you.
    • Day 20: 2026.01.22 Hit about twenty balls at the range. Quietly pleased with how the changes are bedding in, surprsingly consistent ball flight. Hoping to film over the weekend to capture new movement.
    • You might also consider a tune-up lesson. Check and see if anything in your set-up or basic swing is holding you back. I have been playing for more than five decades, but on occasion I've had to make swing tweaks due to age, loss of flexibility, etc. You don't have to reinvent your swing. A couple of static set-up changes might really help out.
    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
