2.) They probably have restrictions on what they can wear to the stadium on game day, but not to practice.

3.) What team are golfers on? Team PGA Tour? If so, then whatever is allowed is allowed.

6.) Probably you are. At the professional level it's not a good look, I've never seen Tiger in jeans on or off the course. Unless the photo earlier in this thread was his version of "jeans and a T-shirt", in which case it looks pretty good. And yes, it would look even better with a proper collars on his shirt. They said the same thing about tennis when the Agassi started to wear different colored shirts and shorts other than "traditional" white.  Country clubs can maintain whatever dress code standards their members wish to be held do.  As for public and muni courses, do you really believe a player wearing a shirt without a collar represents the downfall of golf?

Standards slipped when Mickelson was allowed to wear such tight shirts. Could be strategy though, his man boobs would put anyone off.

A fitting T-Shirt looks better than a crappy collared shirt...no one should wear either on the course

To add to this - did it ruin the game when plus fours went out of style?  Or when they went from wearing a jacket and tie to just a shirt, then to a polo shirt?  Styles change, even in a conservative game like golf.  I'm no fan of some of the current apparel seen on tour, but I don't call names on it.  It may not be to my taste, but if it's accepted by the course, then so be it.

I'm no fan of overly restrictive dress codes either, but that doesn't make them wrong.  I accept what the course requires or allows.

It is amazing how each generation thinks it has the wisdom of the ages.  There is a difference between standards slipping and standards changing.

I have played courses where jeans were allowed. I wouldn't wear them ( because they're too uncomfortable to play golf in, let alone walk around in the hot sun all day ), but there were guys wearing them....am I gonna call them out and frown upon them? No.

That was the allowed dress code, so they were in their right to wear them.

the game is about hitting a ball with clubs.  its about being outside, enjoying nature, challenging yourself to do better than the last time, its about being with friends and enjoying their company, not about what you or they are wearing.
