Is there any better feeling in a round of golf than having a hot putter?

I scrambled my way around my home track yesterday to a 74 with only 5 GIRs and all of 23 putts.

Is having a hot putter better than being in a groove with the driver or knowing exactly what your irons are going to do when you stand over the ball?

nothing compliments a GIR like a one putt.  way to grind for that 74 btw

Putting great is pretty great but i think i prefer when i am totally dialed in with my approaches. Iron shots just feel so good when you hit it well and stand there in your finish just watching the ball fly straight at the stick. Even better when you put a little shape on it and it does exactly what you commanded it to do.

For me the best feeling on the course is being able to chip/pitch in. I absolutely love putting but if I can play a hole without picking up the putter I know I played well.

I'm in this camp.  Sinking putts is definitely awesome.  But, for me at least, nothing compares to that feeling when you knock an iron absolutely crisp, watch it sail toward the green with just the slightest bit of fade, then see it stick like glue right by the pin.  You could have hit it thin, fat, sliced, hooked, taken too much or too little club, gotten screwed by the wind or the lie, released too early or too late, or a million other things.  Instead, you attained total perfection.

Yep nothing worse than hitting 6 out of 9 GIR's in 9 holes and shooting 6 over par with 4 3-putts in the last four holes... Oh how i hate golf ;b

The best feeling in golf is when you're standing over a putt on 18 to break 70/80/90/100, whatever the goal, and you can put it dead center of the cup.

Having alot of 1 putts is nice, but for me, it's my iron consistency.  When I'm hitting on all cylinders with my irons, I absolutely love standing over a ball with the confidence where I know the ball will be on the green.  Even when the putts aren't dropping, two putts for par isn't terrible versus a chip and a putt for par.  But that's just me.

The one and only time I have broken 80, I had a 20 foot birdie putt on 18, and I made it to shoot 79.

My only long putt of the day and my only birdie.

I love putting, but I never try to think in terms of a hot or cold putter. Putting is the most consistent part of my game without the extreme highs and lows of my ballstriking. For that reason, I always derive more pleasure when I'm really ripping the driver and hitting a dozen fairways or so or when my irons are zeroing in  on the flagsticks.

My best round of golf came when my putter was on fire.  I was also hitting some good shots with most of the clubs in my bag, but one guy in my foursome that day still talks about how I must have made over 150' of putts that day!  I had one bad putt the whole day that was for a birdie from the opposite side of the green, probably 60 feet away.  I barely hit it half way there and I was still out.  I lined that putt up and drained it for par.  I also ran in about a twelve footer on 18 to lock up a 69 (par 71 course).  It was a great feeling that day, especially since it was for the championship round of our annual golf trip and I won in a landslide!

The only time I broke 100 was because my putting was great that day(for me at least)

I'm always ruled by the heart and not the head. One of my best ever rounds was similar to yours with low GIR and high single putts. However: I still cannot match anywhere on a golf course the feeling when my 3 wood connects and my ball sails onto a par 5 green in two, and I'm walking up to an eagle putt. Did this on a 550 yard par 5 and sunk a 5 foot eagle putt! Oh pure heaven!
