Ping K15 3 wood is labeled as forgiving.  I have a Ping G15 4 wood, and a K15 3 wood.  The G15 4 wood is very highly regarded, but more often than not, I had read people preferring the K15 3 wood to the G15 4 wood.  I'll be honest though, that in limited rounds, I seem to hit the G15 4 wood better than the K15.  I've never hit a fairway wood as well as I hit the G15.  It is really kind of point and shoot, which I never thought I'd say about a fairway wood.  Could just need more time with the K15 though.

Dropped by GGalaxy yesterday, and the used club rack had K15 woods as trade-ins: 3W, 5W and 7W. One of the players reps plays K15, and talked me into a test-hit.

K15 felt a lot like the low-profile Tour Edge Bazooka BetaTi 3W and 5W I used until a couple of years ago. K15 has a slightly taller clubface than a true low-profile, but still had that super-hot feel when you hit it square.

K15 loft = 16* in 3W, so that might help a little in playability.

I have a Cleveland Launcher DST 3 wood, and it has a pretty big head for a fairway. It is very forgiving, and super long, too. I just can't hit it well off the deck like I can with my Cobra.

Cobra have been well know for a very long time for their forgiving woods. I still have a 16* 3W circa 1986 (graphite shaft too) that is a forgiving club without a big head. It hits 220-245 yds. off the tee straight and true (mostly). I use it more than my driver.

I'm a fan of Adams fairway woods.  Their Speedline F10 is very forgiving and can be had for short money since it's last year's club.

I would definitely recommend the Wilson Fybrid 3-wood. Tried it along with a number of fairway woods (Titleist, Cobra, Mizuno, Nike, Ping...) last season and it came out a winner. Traditional design, high(ish) ball launch, extremely easy to hit. No need to break the bank for this one either.

Adams has a good reputation for forgiving woods going back to the TightLies days... I played one of those in high school up until about 2 years ago and I really liked it.  The K and G series from Ping is also regarded as forgiving as are Cobras.  Hitting the Taylormade R9 woods in the store, they also seemed to be pretty easy to hit for me.

I'd been looking around to add a FW to the bag.  I've tried virtually everything on the racks at Golf Galaxy in the last 3 weeks and nothing felt as confident for me as the Ping K15 series.  Just kept going back to that club.

I opted for the 5w over the 3w because on the monitor the dispersion was less, had less mishits and yardage was only about 5-10 yds less on average than the 3w.

I wanted the consistency so I pulled the trigger on a used 5w.  What I like about it is the 5w head is only 7cc's less than the 3w.  So it makes for a great club to tee off with on narrow holes.  Feel very confident over the ball with the large head.

I played a round with it for the first time today.  Yardage was about 195-200 when I caught it clean.  And it provided me that nice safe shot off the tee.

As far as hitting it out of the fairway, I had some side hill lies and couldn't make a good assessment.  I was hitting it clean but either pushing or pulling it trying to compensate for the lies.

Wish they made a 4w in it like the G series, but oh well, probably still would have opted for the 5 wood anyway.

i like my TM burner rescue 3W.  it's honestly just as long as my driver, though that's really due to me not being able to hit my driver very effectively.  i think it's pretty easy off the deck, even as a ~30 hdcp.  i don't really get the ballflight that i'd like when i really go after it, but that's probably due to it being a regular flex shaft (?? i don't really know enough about how the shaft affects ballflight, so i could be talking out of my butt, but i remember reading something like that, and i don't have any ballooning problems with my driver or the mizzy irons i have, which are a stiff flex).  still, it makes me take a nice even-tempo swing, which results in better contact and more fwys. i like that it doesn't sound as "springy", and on solid contact, it's a nice little metallic ping.  i figure i get about 200-210 yds on a normal swing.  if i crank it and happen to get some decent contact, i'll put it out there as far as 250, but that's the exception much more than the rule.  i mainly save that for when i dribble one off the tee and want to get to at least a mid iron to the green.

all that said, i don't have much to compare it to, so take it with a grain of salt.  i just know that whenever i'm looking around for new clubs, i don't even think of replacing the 3W.

I'm looking for a 3-wood and from my research and limited testing, I will probably go with the Adams a4 wood/hybrid, the Speedline, or the Speedline F11. Used F11s are only about $110 at the moment and the other two are cheaper. The a4 I've heard is ridiculously easy to hit off the deck; I have the a4 hybrids and love them so I definitely believe that. However, it has a slightly smaller clubhead and a mid-high launch (contrast with normal "high"), so it's a little more of a player's club. It has a slightly heavier head as well, which does help swing feel (at least for me) and getting out of rough.

After struggling to find a forgiving 3W for almost a year, I eventually got a Cobra Baffler fairway wood. With an even and easy swing the ball really flies! And straight too! I have better luck off the fairway than the tee. My gf has the ladies version and hits the crap out of the ball. I bought a used club in like-new condition for $129.99. It's a great looking club and a great value!

I would say that from the fairway there is about no need at all to hit a 3 Wood ever. For all except the few that really nail a 3W from the fairway, the distance of a 5W (or 4W) is identical, but it is way easier to handle a 5W from the fairway than to hit a 3W........ So the most forgiving 3W is a 5W !!!
