I use an Odyssey poker chip that came with my putter.  Yeah, it's kind of big but it's easy to find in my pocket.  But no matter what ball marker you use, most players will have you move it if it is in their line.

I have heard of people using poker chips for markers but to me they seem too big to use. Dang sure can't putt over one!

i dont think they are ment to be putted over since many players ask people to move the marker out of the way when theyare putting

A white marker? You mean you use a marker that can be easily seen by yourself and other players so they are not constantly scanning the green looking for your mark as they walk up to the hole? You sir, are a madman.

I was playing in a tournament yesterday and two of the guys I was playing with used either a brown or (not kidding about this) green marker. Nice guys and very good players but I'll bet between the 4 of us someone stepped on one of their lines at least 10 times during the round. They never got upset or anything but it one of those things that you did and felt bad about but you just couldn't see their &^%$ ball marks!

Thank god no one here mentioned that they use a PENNY ! A guy that joined our group was using a penny and was mad when I accidentally stepped in his line. On the very well maintained dark green grass, it was virtually impossible to see a penny. Plus I told him to just use a hunter-green colored poker chip next time or a blade of grass because he'll get the same result. I'm 6'2" so it's kind of hard to see a penny on a dark green from up here. No offense to short people though lol.

I use my OSU (Go Buckeyes!) marker or a dime/quarter. In search of a glove that has a nice marker on it because my callaway hat has a black/grey marker but its also really hard to see if you walk 5ft away from it.

The free ones my course hands out are black with course logo in gold. When they're new you have to be standing at the perfect angle to see the reflection, then the paint wears off after a couple rounds. I never see members use them.

A silver Maria Teresa Thaler trade coin (about the size of a US silver dollar).  I also use a small white plastic ball marker with the peg on the bottom when I'm close to the hole or near someone's line.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Sometimes I use a "Loonie" (Canadian $1 coin for those that aren't familiar), but most the time I use a PGA 2010/Whistling Straits ball marker I purchased at the PGA Championship last year.

Ive got a ball marker from, "Hawk's Landing", which is a yuppie golf course community that is about 2 miles away from where I live.  I found it on one of the courses here in Madison and I use it because it makes people think that Im richer than I acutally am.

I know its shallow but I kind of get a kick out of people who treat me differently because they think Im rich and live on a golf course.

Since I got back from a trip to Poland in May 2010 I've used a Zloty  that I brought back with me.  Had my bachelor party this past weekend and we played at Renditions near D.C.  Bought a poker chip from the course and used it during the round.  Will probably alternate between the two from now on.

    • Okay, I had these two assumptions wrong. That would be my premise for hitting driver. I promise I'm not high.. lol. Fair enough.

    • Wider than most fairways, yes (thus why I don't hit 100% of my fairways), but most holes I play have 65+ yds between hazards (or areas where I can't easily advance my ball to nGIR) so the majority of the time when I hit driver I am able to find it and have a reasonable look at the green.  That would not necessarily be the case on this hole, especially because a mishit driver brings those left trees into play.   PGA Tour players average 2.82 strokes to hole out from 40yds in the bunker and 3.15 strokes to hole out from 60yds in the bunker.  2.82 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 110yds and 3.15 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 190yds.  Now granted I would only have that 50yd bunker shot 1/3 of the time, but it's still a VERY difficult shot especially for amateurs.   Haha trust me I love chasing birdies, but I'm averaging 2.78 birdies per round this year so that's not my issue, I need to make less bogies (5.2 per round) and doubles (0.42 per round)
    • Vishal, what are you doing here? PGA Tour players are about 65 yards wide, often 70. Huh? A 50-yard bunker shot is one of the toughest shots in golf. Are you okay? 🤣
    • Day 608, July 3, 2024 Played 18 holes with a student. White tees. Wasn't really working on my stuff, but hit some really good shots. Drove 16 to the pin-high rough 3" from the fringe. Hit some tremendous long irons.
