Get your own pot of gold ya friggin' scavenger!

Yeah, the flattening the shaft piece is a real head scratcher eh? Just make sure you learn from my follies and BEWARE THE TILTY SHOULDERS!! NOTHING BUT CRAP LIES DOWN THAT ROAD!

Nope sorry, but I am pilfering this thread as well. Something I struggle with as well.

That was a problem I had for a while trying to get the path going to the right, I would lean away from the target to get that trail elbow lower, BAD BAD BAD!!!

I know its going to happen sometimes this year, you'll go from a 25 to like a 12 in a short amount of time. The swing looks really close. My advice for when you play a round. Don't worry about your drills. Go to the range, figure out the ball flight for the day and play. If you got keys 1-3 down, then you should only be playing a slight pull fade if the path is an issue. That is totally playable, and you will still be hitting the ball first with good contact. When you play, take what your swing gives ya, don't try to force it on the course. That wills save ya a handful of strokes.

What ball flight are you hitting most of the time now?  What is the shot you are trying to eliminate..

I'm sorry for prying so much, but if you are working on flattening the shaft then you must be getting so good contact, and now you are really just trying to control the ball spin before you move on to try and work on your starting lines.. Am I correct?

Main miss is a big push that can be just as penal as a banana slice!

I'm just going to put this out there.

I think you should drive down some Saturday morning, work with Dave and I, spend the night across the street, work with us a little bit in the morning, and drive back on a Sunday.

I think some time in March should be good.

You will benefit from a little hands on experience. The process will actually be pretty quick since you already have a good background.

EJ you definitely should do this.  Scratch that, you need to do this buddy.  I'll fire up the weed whacker...;)

I wish I lived closer.  I would definitely like to see Erik and/or Dave in person.

I've done this, although more a 1 day thing. So worth it. Do it! Carpe diem baby.

Family's all gone, finally have the house back and found some time to practice! After not having really practiced much lately I didn't delve too deeply into @iacas 's master LIST of feels for shallowing out, I mostly just wanted to make sure I hadn't reverted back to big swiping out-to-in swings, which I was at first. Took a few swings to get that out of my system and I'm still very steep coming through A5 but I'm happy to see a lot of things starting to stick.

Really just focusing on banking the trail foot and coming from the inside, trying not to smash Hogan's pane of glass. Still a little tilt-y in the shoulders but much less so and I think that may be a little bit of an illusion from pushing my hips forward?

Comments always welcome. :-)

EDIT* I'm also hitting it off of the toe a lot, but I guess that's why I don't play blades ;-)

I'm following along anxiously to see when you do start to try and figure out the shallowing out ... how you solve it.  Our A5's look very similar in regards to the shaft angle.  Draw that line down to the ground and it points inside the ball.

The good thing about the shallowing out, is that if I remember Erik's notes correctly, we will likely kill two birds with one stone.  Remember, he said that you'll likely hit a lot of shanks.  So if we're missing it on the tow, then we'll probably just be hitting it solid. :)

The banking of the right foot looks good, btw.  A lot better than mine!

----------------------------------------------

General practice question for you:  How much do you video?  Do you turn the camera on and record all of your practice?  I only pull out the camera for a swing or two every few sessions ... whenever I feel like putting something on here or sending it in to Evolvr.  Maybe I should change that up. :)

I film about 90% of my swings. It's pretty easy for me to get way out of whack and think that all is good but then discover I just put 30 minutes of reps in on banana ball swing so I keep pretty close tabs on myself for now.

The shallowing feel that works best for me is getting the right elbow lower on the DS.

So far, I've been working mostly on the palmar flexion (A4) ... which I need to do anyway, otherwise I'm hitting push cuts.  It, in turn, forces me to have a more pitchy elbow, and then lastly, I'm trying the feeling of the clubhead getting close to my right ankle.

So, do you stop and view each swing right away as well then?

One of these days, I'm going to get a decent camera that I can just set up on a tripod for the whole practice session.  Another thing it will be good for, and don't laugh, is to help curb my stagefright.

For whatever reason, when I turn the camera on, I frequently get all jumbled in the head because I'm nervous that people are watching me. I know, I know ... I'm a goober.

I'l usually review after 3-5 swings.

I'm an introvert, but I've done public speaking/performance for job/music and golf I still get nervous but mostly on 1st tee. When I first started using video a lot, I was pretty self conscious. Now, it doesn't even phase me. Just keep doing it and you'll hardly ever notice. You get used to people (who are in the last freaking century) look at you like some kind of sideshow because no one they know ever uses video for golf.

As for shooting video, sometimes I'll keep the camera going and get 3--5 swings and look at one that felt funky or one that felt good. Or I'll video one, take 3 swings, then video and so on. One instructor told me to film at the end of the session and look at it at home. So many different variations.

Did a quick session this morning. Working with the feel of getting the trail elbow lower in transition. Pretty rough right now but I can see how it can work for me. Not sure but I may be cheating a little with torso but my eye isn't sophisticated enough to say for sure. Anyway, though I'd toss this out ther as I know @Golfingdad and @Abu3baid are working on this same piece.

Here's a screen capture of my A5, kind of sloppy and I get up on my trail toes a little more than I like but it is shallower.

On a side note, something about my set-up felt a little off this morning but I didn't have a ton of time so I just concentrated on this transition piece. First few warmup swings were OTT as usually, which is why I do so much video review, I revert to the mean far too easily. :~(
