Shawn, look, here's some hard truth:

If you think you're going to solve something in a week or in a month or even in a year, you're nuts, and unrealistic expectations could drive you out of the game if you're not careful. You know how they say ignorance is bliss? Well, when you're playing golf, you need to be ignorant to what you think your swing really looks like and realize that you're better than 99% of the golfers out there (or whatever).

Yep strongly agree with everything Erik said.  It's a process, I'll share something another instructor posted on Facebook

I wouldn't say you go too far in, left arm doesn't look like Matt Kuchar at A4, right elbow just slides behind you a bit. I like what Erik suggested and he's talking about the 3 pressure points that I pointed out earlier in the thread.  Talking about releasing the elbow and mid pressure points in the tricep.  Overall pretty good position here.

I know you like to feel the swing with your left arm so then maybe the feeling should be to create as much space between the left hand and the head or chest as possible.  But just for the hell of it try to make one swing where you don't flex the right arm past A2, almost like it's straight by the time you get to A4.  I don't care if you miss the ball, would like to see that on video.

Mike, thanks for the response.  I'm going to work on this feel - of keeping the right arm straight - hands away from the head after A2 and see how it works.  That accomplishes keeping my left/right hands as far away from my head as possible.... And should definitely reduce the effects of the right arm over flexing - and that left hand getting close to my skull - and pushing that right scapula back toward the target.

Just making swings in my living room, trying to focus on keeping my hands farther away from my head - and less bending of the right arm, felt like I was finding my low point easily.  It felt like I was making a 2/3 swing or punch... One thing I really liked about the mod was my arms had tons of space to pass through the shot.  It didn't feel like my arms on the exit were wrapping or crashing into my body - and my left arm felt like it could go straight higher into the finish (now it breaks post impact).

Enough chatter... I'm heading to the range to get some swings on video... Then playing a round this afternoon with Pakoh.  I'll provide an update tonight.  Thanks again for the comments, suggestions and most importantly - words of encouragement!  I need them!!

Ok, here are some swings I made at the range today.  This is a PW - I was hitting the ball better - flight wise.  Just not able to hit my target.  I was focused mainly on my address setup - handle location/hands - and then shortening my back swing and keeping my hands away from my head at P4 - trying to not over flex my right arm.

Sorry to drop in with unrelated input mate, but to upload a swing of ours do we need to be hitting a ball at a driving range? Or can a free swing on the back lawn be sufficient to scrutinise? Cheers

i noticed your takeaway is too quick off the ball causing your body and arms to be out of sync.  the result is firing your hips to early in the transition causing a pull shot.  a drill to practice with would be to put a ball behind your an iron and roll the ball back in your takeaway,  this will keep everything in sync and will help cure your slight over the top move.

Just a A1 thought. Looks to me like you could round your back out a bit and also work to get the weight off your heels. I wonder what the smart guys think of that, but that would be my thoughts. My bigger issue is your left arm at P5, from there you can only professional flip at it to hit a good shot, but one piece at a time. That is not meant to be a negative comment, I have a pro flip for the same reason.

Yeah, my A1 is definitely something I need to continue to monitor.  Rounding the lower spine and bending my ankles/knees.

I notice your pelvis going forward (towards the ball) for the downswing. It creates inconsistency. You want to finish in the box (or deeper in the box for lots of power) of the lower body... here's a good explanation using gary woodlands swing. i wouldn't say wayne defrancesco is great at explaining how to do certain things, but he does observe of lot of useful tips about swings. everyone good finishes in the box. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z4tLN_A12o

Driver: 10.5* callaway Razr Hawk Tour - 350 yards(usually into the wind, it can be windy here. at least 400 with a little wind behind me)

Hybrids: 2 and 3 callaway Hybrid razr tour (312 and 287 respectively)

Irons: 3i-10i callaway forged standard length(278, 263, 250, 235, 221, 213, 201, 190)

Wedges: callaway jaws cc 52* 12 approach, 56* 16 sand, 60* 13 lob (0-185)

Odyssey Black tour #9 putter(5 ft, i'm always at least within 5 feet on my approach shot)

I wonder who on this forum is a PGA tour pro, disguised as a normal player..

PS ... Gary Woodland looks like he's gotta lot of work to do on Key #1.  (11:15 of the video)  Not exactly a centered pivot.

Heckuva a lot of power though.  Looks violent!

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
