1. Consistency. 2. Lack of time to practice. 3.Lack of funds to play more. 4. This abdroid phone for posting on the site here. At least this android is better than the former Blackberry was. Typos are a bear to fix as well, so I jist don't bother - let it ride.

I dont even know how to start. lately I have been great with my 7 iron in. Then in the middle of my round yesterday my shots went to shit. I dont mean missing. I mean I started, topping, shanking and hitting fat shots which i havent done in months. One round wouldnt bother me to much. I golfed today and it carried over at times. If this becomes more common or the new me im gonna be furious. I think i got so good with those clubs i could do it without thinking and now i dont know what i was doing to fix it. It was just natural. on the other hand i just did alot of work with my driver and i couldnt make it turn at all today. pure straight shots non stop so what i did to fix my driver im gonna try to undo for my irons.

My biggest frustration is my driver.  Oddly enough, my driver was my best club last year. But, this year thus far, I can't seem to hit it the way I want to.  I play a high draw normally with most of my clubs, and I can't seem to force myself to release my hands enough through the ball.  All my other clubs I've been able to hit well.  My short game has been saving me!  Sure, I could just go 3-wood every hole I need my driver because i hit my 3-wood 270 on average.  But, what fun is not being able to hit driver? I need it to work for me for my game to improve.

High scores and bad swings, which necessiate a pint after nine holes. Consequencies include higher scores and worse swings; but I love it.

My Aerolite bag contains:

VR Tour Driver Project X 5.5
904F 17* 4-wood Sabre Stiff
MP68 3-PW Project X 6.0
52* Vokey Spin Milled -wedge

Redwood ZB

I prefer a ball, but may occasionally hit almost anything.

Right now what's frustrating me is the weather I've been playing in. Most of my rounds have been in very cold AND windy conditions. I can handle one or the other, but when it's both, it's just not fun being out there.

Not enough rounds played this year.....it sucks.

Ive been hitting my shots so pure as of late ive dropped from low 80's to low 70's pretty quickly. swing is very tight and strong. Now ive gotten busy with work and cant play for a week or so.  was one stroke away from shooting par the other day shot 73.  I tend to lose my swing when i dont get to play as often.  The weather has been awesome and the courses are lush. Its pure golf torture not being able to play.

Mine would be inconsistency with my irons.  Just cannot hit greens so far this season.  I am about 35% GIR.  I am happy with how I am getting up and down, and I have been able to hit 66% of fairways this season.  Just can't hit the green.

I can hit the range and make great contact shot after shot. I will hit the sweet spot, make a divot (irons and my wood), and even get that chunk of grass fly in the air like the pros. But, when I get on the course, all that goes away. I thin shots close to the green and chunk shots on the fairways. I can't translate what I do on the range to the course.

In my bag:

Nike Mach Speed Black

Nike Dymo 3 wood

TaylorMade Burner 3 hybrid

Mizuno MP-53 PW-3

TaylorMade RAC 52, 56, 60

One day just go out to the tee and start playing.  You might be amazed at the results.

Why leave it all out on the practice tee?

Mine is performing under pressure. I'm not a scratch golfer by any means (yet :) ) but when I walk from the practice tee to the first hole especially in a tournament I seem to leave my skills behind. Under pressure I perform things I wouldn't even consider possible and I don't mean that in a good way

So what's yours?

Playing badly under pressure is common among golfers.

You have to get a sense that you are under control and that comes with entering more tournaments.

I played on Thursday and had the best ball-striking round I've had in over a year.  the problem?  36 putts.  I missed five for par inside of five feet including one less than 2 feet.

    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.
    • Re: your graphic, ‘ I expected a little more from a varsity letterman.’ Lol…just another one for @boogielicious
    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
    • When someone is trying to validate their choice, statements concluding with "right" are often the MO.  Too bad he thinks he has to keep defending his decision, just do like guys like DJ and HVIII - take the money, play the tourneys and keep quiet.
