Has any Am finished the Open lower than 14th since Kuchar low Am finish at Olympic in 1998?  At some point, an Am has to win another Open.

Because he is exceptionally intelligent.  Just saw Hossler's scorecard.  +5 for #2-6.  Ouch.  Welcome to the Open.  He could still shoot 68 tomorrow--he's making as many birdies on this course as anyone.

Tiger is obviously back on steroids. Bubba's 2nd driver had a pretty good roll after it landed, and Tiger's 3-metal (or was it a 5-metal?) flew past where Bubba's ball ended up.

This is not the same Bubba that won the Masters, he took way too much time off. Maybe he should just retire.

Schüco won't let him win two in a row. Too much exposure.

How is Woods hitting the low stinger? Is it the same way pre Foley? It looks like he opens his stance with the ball back.

That is one of the worst results I've ever seen from a solid shot.  Tiger landed it about 5 yards short of the green with an iron, and it goes 30 yards past...about?

Alas, he is but an infinitesimal cog in the evill Schüco Corporation's cabal for world domination. Look at the patches on the players' hats and shirtsleeves; they're everywhere.

BTW, that was a SICK lob shot Tiger hit from behind 17.

Not sure, but it's as good as ever.  And he deserved better on the 17th hole.  Almost one of the best up-and-downs of the tournament, after a pretty crappy break.

I just don't agree with the setup of that hole, with it shaved all the way down like that. Not even fair. Tiger hit a good shot.

I do agree that it is a strange setup. Short par 5 where lots of players hit long irons or woods into the green. With the hard soil, the ball will bounce and roll a lot. Hit it a little bit too far and you are off the green and way down there.

If you believe in the Golf Gods, they'll make it up to him on Sunday.

So the squirell will throw it out of the trees and into the fairway?

This is about as high of a score Tiger could have shot today. Easily could have been 4 shots lower - got screwed a few times. He's looking real good going into the weekend, especially if the breaks even out.

I agree, about as poor as he could have scored.  Still though, If he was any good with his wedge game this week he'd probably have the lead by a couple strokes (depending on what Toms does coming in).

I have a sneaking suspicion this will be his worst round of the week, which doesn't bode well for the contenders over the weekend.  Now, show of hands for people who'd be just a little excited about a Graeme/Tiger final pairing on Sunday?

Let's talk about Chris Berman. He's good at NFL announcing, but not golf. I dunno what it is about him, his stale jokes, etc.

I'd rather hear Johnny Miller.
