John Daly is a great golfer though...no shame in being beaten by Daly... But you're probably right. Retirement is surely the only option.....

I was on the fence after Jack said it, but your added endorsement has convinced me. After all, you guys have 18 majors between you.

Daly is awesome. I'd love to see him win again. The man is a what, 3 time major champ? Its not like he can't do it.

Do you think Rory would feel the full "sting" of defeat if Daly managed to beat him this weekend?

It might make him wish that he had stayed at the range with his coach and played plenty of practice rounds at Olympic!

I do enjoy watching Daly play when he is in decent form. I just don't expect that he is able to keep it up for four rounds.  Didn't he do pretty good in a tournament earlier this year?  Can't remember?   Of course, I would be tickled if I could ever play as "badly" as Big John plays these days.

Titleist 910D2 10.5* Stiff / Taylormade 3 Wood - Superfast 2.0 15*  3 Superfast 2.0 Rescue 18* Stiff Shafts

Yeah, Daly finished 4th in Qatar. He was consistent over a few days over there.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that Rory was happy enough with his swing on the range but it was an issue during competitive rounds, he was hoping to get the practice he wanted in the tournaments he was playing but missing cuts sort of stops that and so he addded another event.

Also, I'm surprised the issues regarding his caddie haven't resurfaced. Early last year, pre his US Open win but after the Masters, the commentators on Sky were flaming his caddie for not being strong enough when Rory wanted to go for the hero shot and generally not being helpful enough with course management. Some of the big numbers he ran up at the Memorial were due to this - trying to hack out of the creak etc.

I think Rory told the Sky guys where to go on twitter at the time.

Which is 18 more than you.

Furthermore, Jack doesn't agree with everything I say. I think he's being a dick by saying that McIlroy shouldn't be playing this week.

But thanks for letting us know that you think that the opinions of any internet forum member are the equal of the greatest playerr in the history of tyhe game.

I don't actually agree with you there, but I do think that it is odd that one can be criticised or mocked for sharing an opinion which is fairly widely held.

I guess you think we're all still trying to work out the  mystical significance of your avatar and assume that we assume that you are an intellectual.

Those types are called wankers over here too.

And I think it's odd that such a tiny joke would cause such a large overreaction, so I guess we're even.

It looks like Rory McIlroy has figured out what he was doing wrong. Even after missing a couple of 3-footers today, he's tied for the lead in Memphis, with two holes left to play. He's playing with fellow US Open champ Graeme McDowell, who will be able to get two extra days of practice at Olympic this weekend.

Well Big John didn't blow up today...of course, there is always tomorrow.

Rory has his game on track today.

Twitchy Spencer Levin and McDowell and Zach missed the cut...

J.B. Holmes - 4 birdies in a row / 29 on the front! 6 under for the day.

Saturday's play will be interesting!

Titleist 910D2 10.5* Stiff / Taylormade 3 Wood - Superfast 2.0 15*  3 Superfast 2.0 Rescue 18* Stiff Shafts

Experts picks had Graham as the favorite? Well, sucks he missed the cut. But, I had him on my fantasy team, so a very unusual finish for him. I also have Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy and Seab O'Hair. Not bad, but not great picks as of now.

In my bag:

Nike Mach Speed Black

Nike Dymo 3 wood

TaylorMade Burner 3 hybrid

Mizuno MP-53 PW-3

TaylorMade RAC 52, 56, 60

Odyssey Black Series Tour Design

OK. That sound fair.

So any bets that Mcilroy blows his wad this week vs. Next week? Or can he tame the beast and try for a back to back?
