'reporters are annoying'.  Ha ha ha. News reporters, sports reporters, all, are simply parasites sucking on celebrities. I avoid them, just like Tiger should.

I remember watching a press conf one time and a reporter said "How does it feel now that you just aren't playing well anymore?"

His response: "Well the good news is I can still beat you."

As much as I love Tiger's quip, he has to cater to the media because they can destroy his reputation.  That's the price of fame.

Newspapers have been going out of business or downsizing over the past 25 years, so, the seriously important sports journalists have scrounged for other forms of income. These joyless windbag "opinion makers" have now reached critical mass on television and internet media sites. Thankfully, we have other options that have become more and more available--Local radio broadcasts of sports events, twitter, and niche websites/chatrooms.

He did a pretty good job of that on his own.

You guys are lucky we now have the Internet and we aren't stuck with just the opinions of those in the lamestream media.  Now you get my opinion as well!

But then again, what the hell do I know?

They are annoying...nothing new there. If I were in his shoes, I would have lashed out at the media in far less polite ways, and long ago. He is a terrible interview, for sure, but he's been playing this back and forth with them since the 90's...and I'm surprised he still has any patience with the media.

No one else is expected to submit to press room interviews anywhere near as much as Tiger.  I think he should set some boundaries.  Maybe something like the following:

a pre-event interview before every major

post round interview only when leading or tied for the lead.

post event interview only when finishing first or second.

pre-event interviews in any other 4 events as selected by the PGA Tour's press office.

He'd still be doing more interviews than anyone else.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I was a filthy hack for about 10 years and can tell you that there used to be a word for reporters who didn't annoy the folks that they covered: shills. Sadly, since the advent and triumph of "entertainment journalism" ( or star****ing, if you prefer), this has now become the default mode.

By the way, "the media" -- like any other profit motivated industry -- just gives the public what it asks for (or, at least, what it will continue to pay to consume.) People are fat because they all they eat is shit. People are stupid because all they watch and listen to is shit. (I was going to put "read" in there too, but that's not a real big factor anymore.) No one shoved that shit into their bellies or their brains. They like it, they pay for it, they want more of it -- even as it rots them from the inside, body and soul.

Screw Tiger Woods and screw humanity. Other than that, it's all good.

Stretch.

There's not much integrity within journalism today.  Anyone with a blog page calls themself a reporter / journalist.  In the past the sleazy reporters worked for the tabloids while the mainstream newpapers and magazines held their journalists to some code of conduct and integrity.  Now it's a free for all and with the exception of very few publications there is zero integrity within the media thus eliminating any reason for Tiger to show these parasites respect.

I am not a journalist but this is a bit of a generalization, no?

We might have to agree to disagree, but no I think with the exception of a few publications, journalists today have an agenda and their reporting and coverage reflects their agenda.  The days of unbiased neutral reporting of the facts have been replaced with editorialized  news reporting.

    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.

It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
