  1. 1. Carry or Pull ?

    • Carry

    • Pull

I walk about 90% of the time. Some of the new courses make it very hard and I get a cart for those. I prefer to carry my bag. Pulling a cart seems more trouble than it is worth.

I don't walk much, mostly due to time. When I do I carry my cart bag. I tried renting a cart to push it around but that wobbly thing slowed me down.

I used to carry but now use a pull cart. I'm not as young as I used to be and was pretty drained by the end of my round when I carried my bag.

The heavy rental pull carts are to blame. My personal folding pull cart is way lighter and more maneuverable.

One of the reasons that I golfed where I did last summer was that it was a very walkable course.  I really prefer to walk and when I do I like to carry.  There have been times though that I'll use one of the club's three wheel "push carts".  I find those very nice versus a pull cart - probably due to the stability that the 3 wheels give.  When it is wet or when it is very hot are too great times to use a cart versus carrying.  Unfortunately a lot of the other courses that I play require a motorized cart.

Without a doubt. I see guys out there with their nice carts getting around fairly well. I can't justify the expense because more often than not I'm out before or after work so time is the issue. I walk on weekends if I can pair up with walkers but if not I catch a ride. Home course doesn't charge per rider so I can split fees or buy a few beers.

I carry 95% of the time.  I usually only use my push cart if it's going to rain (umbrella holder).  I find carrying much less work than pushing or pulling; it's less effort to simply walk with something on my back rather than actively pushing or pulling something.  I know on really hilly courses I will always carry regardless of weather.

I am getting a bit older myself so most of the time on my home course I only walk 9 in the am. Many times I walk the other 9 in the pm.

After my nap of course. I also know pretty much what clubs I can leave at home on this course. My best score on the course was shot when I only carried my 7 Iron an putter a sweet 84

When I walk, I always use a push cart.  Push carts are better for your back than carrying or using a pull cart.  I used to always carry but find that using a push carts leaves me feeling less fatigued by the end of my round and probably saves me a few strokes.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Carry, but I'm thinking about getting a pull cart as a concession to age and injury (my left leg is badly messed up, permanently). I want to keep walking for as long as I can.

I'm a sucker--I always carry.

I walk most of the time and I carry my bag. I use and ancient bag with only the essentials in it. It just has a single strap which suits me fine.

I have the back pack straps I only use them if the ground is uneven or I hit a real good shoot and have a long walk to get there. Wish this happen more. The thing that I like the best is the pop out legs that keep  you from having to pick the bag off the ground like in the olden days.

    • Day 252: worked on chipping for a while with my chipping net. Worked on low, medium, and high shots. Productive session.
    • Day 180 - 2025-03-29 Not a long time today, but I got my five minutes in jumping and doing some work on the downswing.
    • I’ll just stick to the basics for now - got enough to work on… this is my home practice range. The little clearing in about the center of the photo is roughly 200 yards.

    • Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3. The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.   The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’. Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.
