I play the TaylorMade Penta 5 (the discontinued ball).  Fortunately, I have several dozen of them.  It is very comparable to the ProV1x for me with maybe just a little less spin.

I have tried the TM Lethal and am not really sold on it as a good replacement for the Penta 5.

Bag: Titleist
Driver: TM RBZ 9.5
Fairway metals: TM RBZ 3 wood
Hybrids: TM RBZ 3, 4 and 5
Irons: TM Burner 1.0 6 thru LW stiff steel shafts
Putter: Ping B60
Ball: TM Tour Preferred X or ProV1x

Recently, I've basically been hitting whatever I pull out of my bag (as long as it doesn't feel like a rock), which has a mix of balls in it. Although, I prefer to play Pro V1s and Pro V1Xs, but only when I'm confident I won't lose it to a shot out of bounds.

I play Pro V's, so used to the feeling now, I would never want to switch.  Expensive, but you can buy the recycled version for only $10 in some places and you really can't tell any difference in the way they play from new.  Would only use new for tournaments tho

Currently playing the Pinnacle Exception. Not bad for a 2 piece...it feels and performs like the Bridgestone 330s. My pro shop had em on sale for 5 bucks a sleeve.

The distance you get might be similar to the 330, but you should notice a significant difference in spin and the ball holding the green. If the greens you are playing are very soft, then maybe there won't be too much difference.

No ......I've noticed it checks almost identically to the soft bridgestone balls I've used in the past. It's not a rock hard distance ball but not the softest on the market....somewhere right between but the feel is exceptional...no pun intended

I'll play ProV1s if I'm swinging well or QStars if I'm not. I will also play any number of the expensive balls that others lose all over the course. I usually come home with 5-10 nice ones that other people paid for.

Driver: Cobra Amp Cell

3/5 Wood: Adams Ovation

Irons: Cobra UFI

Putter: Titleist Dead Center, circa 1985

Tried a sleeve of the TaylorMade Lethal on the recommenation of a friend who has been playing great. I really liked the ball; minimum spin off the tee, and I like the way it reacts when I chip. Now I find that they are changing the ball very soon, even the name. At least that's what a guy on our Pro staff told me.

Back to using Titleist NXT Tour & Pro V1.     Two of my best scores were done with those balls so I am switching to see if I can get some magic back.  Wishful thinking, I know.    But my new home course is littered with lost Pro V1 balls, LOL, and it is painful to leave them there or hit them away at range.

Switched to Titleist DT SoLo after a few of my Pro V1 balls took too much side spin and rolled into bunker & OB areas.   Added 10 yards to my driver distance in the process as ball gets up better in the heavy winter air.   Will stay with it until I deplete my current supply.

I was playing the callaway hex blacks, but they ding so easy and  hate playing a ball with a ding on it so i switch to Pro V1x and they are working great for me. i can get my long irons to stop on a green about 3 yards from my pitch mark so I'm happy with them

For Sale: Ping i3+ 2i-UW

Srixon z stars, love the durability and price ( they go down to $29.99 a dozen once the new edition hits the shelf) like the fact they are optic as well, this helps identifying my ball when I can't drive the cart on the fairway. I have tried the Bridgestone B330 RX a few times and like those as well,  think if I see them on sale anytime soon and I know they come optic also so I think I may try them out for a while.

Just bought the Pro V1x and excited to try them next time I get out. I thought the Pro V1x would be good since it spins less with the driver but since it's among the best line of golf balls from titleist it will also have the good short game control and stop power on greens. I suggest trying a pack, it never hurts. You never know how it will improve your game. I have a feeling these will work for me.

OK - I'm sold.

practice pitch/chip area - we have stock 2 piecers with a hard cover (just for the range).  In the bucket there is sometimes some other regular balls (Titleists, Calloways, Nikes, etc....)

The DIFFERENCE in how the course balls check up and dance vs the range balls is DRAMATIC.  Exact (feels and flies anyway) same shot with a fairly clean Titleist vs the range ball - the Titleist will stop and check nicely, a good pitch you can almost fly to the hole with good result.  The range will land and roll (and roll some more) off the back (so I have to remember with the range balls to just practice where i land it a nd not get in the habit of playing to the hole with those)

though certainly the difference within the options of course balls won't be as dramatic,

I'm thinking it's definitely worth playing around with and selecting a specific model for next year
