What are your predictions about this Sunday's big game?

My prediction is that the 49ers will prevail in a close defensive battle, 17-13.

I'm having a tough time with this one - mainly because it will determine my overall status for our personal football pool. I currently hold the lead with 2 others. My head says SF, but my heart says Baltimore will take the Niners in a 26-20 game.

1.  Baltimore wins 23-20

2.  Flacco finally gets the "elite" title.

3.  Kaepernick becomes a full-fledged star.

4.  Beyonce gets ripped for either sounding bad or lip-syncing (lose-lose for her either way)

5.  The commercials are blah because we continue to expect way too much out of them.

6.  The only one of these predictions almost guaranteed to be right ... a couple of weeks after the game, I won't remember any of it anymore.  For the most part, (Rams/Titans, Rams/Patriots, Patriots/Giants-Tyree excluded) the games aren't usually very memorable.

  1. Everyone will be tired of the "first time two brothers coach against each other" mantra by the end of the 1st quarter.
  2. Ray Lewis will be shown on the side line 142 times.
  3. The Harbaugh's parents will admit that Jim got spanked a whole lot more than John.
  4. Bernard Pollard gets flagged 2 times for unnecessary roughness and knocks out one of his own teammates.
  5. Beyonce does not have a wardrobe malfunction (damn!).
  6. Joe Flacco smiles only once, in the 3rd quarter, but plays well.
  7. Kaepernick has more rushing yards than Ray Rice.
  8. Ray Rice has more rushing TDs than Kaepernick.
  9. Randy Moss will have one TD.
  10. The scores at the end of each quarter and the end of the game will be guaranteed not to match my numbers in the Super Bowl Pool.

Tough to get too excited this year with the Pack getting so close -- but hope the Ravens take it.  24 - 21.

49'ers - 31

Ravens - 20

I feel the running of Kap will offset the rush of Suggs and Ray is long in the tooth to track him. I think Ravens QB will flinch first but the running game of Frisco will be the difference. Sure wished I knew who the ref's were betting on thought.

I say 17-13 Ravens winning.  Both teams throughout the season were more well known for their defense than offense.  Obviously their offenses have been good enough to get through to the Super Bowl, but it'll come down to the D and the score will be low.  I'm not sure what all the drama with R. Lewis will do to his and his teams play, but I'm sticking with them. The main keys from previous games for the teams is to stop Kap's options or runs, and stop Flacco's deep ball, in terms of the D.

I think either team can win this game.  Mistakes will make the difference.  But I am surprised at all the low score predictions.  Both these offenses have potential to put up big points.  They are playing indoors.  I think both teams will be above 28 points.

I agree that both teams can win. I guess my low score prediction is because of the quality of the defenses in this game and it seems to me like championship games start off slow because of the conservative nature of coaches, especially early on.  I would love to see a high scoring game, nothing worse than 3 and out all game long.  I have no idea how to predict NFL games, if I did I would lay some money on it. I never thought the Ravens would make it past the first round of the playoffs and here they are in the Super Bowl. Shows what I know.

Why do I feel like Flacco is gonna implode tomorrow?

Hey jetfan, you spelled his name wrong ... I know it's a hard one but I think it's spelled Kaepernick. ;)

Since the world seems to be going with SF, I will pick the Ravens - they remind me of my last 2 Giants SB champs - getting hot at the right time and not getting the respect they deserve.

The only drawback is they are not facing a pansy QB like the g-men did.

Lol, even when Brady is out of the playoffs you can't avoid bringing him up.

Most of my friends are obnoxious pats fans (even the ones that didnt grow up there - can you say bandwagon?) - they force me to really despise him.

I was like you're clueless, he didn't even say Kaepernick, he said Flacco.  Then it hit me, you were making a joke. So now I'm the clueless one.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
