Love the dead animal motif, very...rustic.

Not mine, they are my brother's, but I have flung a few arrows myself.  Actually most of the time I don't even use my bow and arrow or my bare hands, I just stare intensely at deer and they fall over.  No big deal in these parts.

Son of a "B" how did you find out about that.  I thought that was only local knowledge.

Lesson work today on the right here in full speed. Gonna take some time. Driver face still wide open. Looks like I could slice one that would hit me in the back of the head. Ended up as a pretty straight pull I believe though. Gotta figure out a way to have the face rotate through better. Definitely don't push as much though if I close up and try to hit pulls.

Just a reminder of how far things have come.  Here is the old swing and set-up before taking any lessons.  This was last September.

Make sure to transfer the weight as you do it

OK I will do that, I was strictly thinking about the arms moving in the right direction alone and nothing else. I will add that component. Just trying get the arms away from being left behind. I am flash in the lower body and diary of a whimpy kid in the arms.

I hear ya, just saw too much weight in that right leg on the followthrough.

Played the course that I will be playing for the state am qualifier in two weeks.  I have played it before but never from the tips where it will be playing for the qualifier.  There are a lot of elevated tee shots that make it shorter than the 6830 that it shows on the card.  I shot 39 on the front and 41 on the back.  I took away some good and bad from the round.  My iron game is the best it has ever been, and it should be since I have been working on it so much(even in a very short amount of time).  What was the weakest part of my game is now the strongest.  I hit 9 greens with only 5 looks from the fairway.  The 3w I hit well but for one bad pull on a 230y par three.  Otherwise I hit some nice high draws with it.  The bad was of course the driver.  I counted 5 bad pushes with that mother trucker.  I started of well, with some nice tight fades for the first few holes and then started having issues in the middle part of the round.  Two of them were penalty shot worthy.  The last couple holes I hit draws as I thought back to the video that Mike did below.  Essentially I just felt like the handle was coming up and in a bit around impact(by getting the arms through faster).  I will have to work on that a bit more at the range this week.  I probably would have to shoot 73-74 to actually make the tournament, so it is probably not realistic to think that I can do that.  Anything 80 or under though in tournament play I would be very happy with at this stage.  I have changed so much this year, from the swing itself, the tempo, and from interlock to overlap without a glove.  I am just gonna have fun with it and not really worry about the results.

The driver thought seems to be working. Don't know why don't really care as long as it works. The face is squaring up sooner. Also all the lesson practice seems to be helping the arms to shoulder relationship in the downswing as well. Left is before, right is after.

Good stuff Cipher!  We sound similar in that my biggest strength is also my iron game and my biggest weakness is also my driver.  Further, my driver has been a bit better overall lately thanks to a video (not Mikes, but rather James' video here: http://thesandtrap.com/t/44307/hitting-up-or-down-with-the-driver-in-an-inline-pattern/90_30#post_847924 ).  I will be checking out Mike's very soon here (probably on my lunch break!)

I'm mostly fascinated by the fact that you made such a drastic change with your grip.  I have an interlocking grip (with a glove) and will occasionally experiment with an overlapping grip just to see how it feels.  (By 'occasionally' I mean, I'll try it for 2 shots during one range session every year or two ;))  It has always felt like I was really only holding the club with my left hand and the right was just kind of there.  Especially at the top of the backswing, it would always feel like my right hand was slipping off the club.  Just curious, what prompted you to change your grip?

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
