True enough that Keegan is inviting more of the same by acknowledging and reacting to the haters. However, it's fair to remember that he's only a man. (As all these guys are). Fame tends to dehumanize these people in the eyes of many "fans". Which is a shame. They are just people (who happen to be very very good at something). Having said that, Keegan will be OK I think. Haters or no. He's a multi-millionaire who plays golf for a living.

my first reaction to the latest report about Keegan saying something was "quit whining and suck it up"  Constantly putting it into the press that you don't like being called a cheater and its unfair to you and all this other stuff just makes YOU look like the bad one.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

Maybe not wise of Keegan, but no one wants to be called a cheater.  And he is playing by the rules, cristal clear.

The so called fans that are calling him a cheater are the ones who give a bad example. They are the ones that should be banned.

I'm starting to get the impression that Keagan is his own worst enemy when he opens his mouth. He was one of the first to complain and at least "imply" there would be a lawsuit if the USGA banned his crutch,,,,I mean long putter! That doesn't excuse the idiots out there that would call him a cheater. He has played and won under the current rules of golf and calling him a cheater is beyond ignorant.

I'm just kicking myself for not pulling for Duffner now back in their PGA championship battle. I didn't know much about either guy back then so I flipped a coin and pulled for Bradley. Since then I've liked Duffner more and more, and disliked Bradley about everytime he opens his mouth.

I like Keegan less every time I watch him, despite him being an SJU alumni.  From his cha cha routine before every shot, to the grimaced faces he makes, he just strikes me as a constant whiner.  That said, no one wants to be called or referred to as a cheater in golf, especially when they aren't cheating.

There are other guys using an anchored stroke and either aren't being called a cheater or aren't bringing any attention to it, so that leads me to believe Keegan is bringing this on himself in some way.  He'd be best served to ignore it and hope it goes away but now that people know it bothers him, it's not likely to happen in the near future.

I see his point.  No one like comments from drunk idiots.  He will have to deal with it.

I think he's being focused on in the same way Sergio was cat-called for his slow play/regrips several years ago. Hopefully this will pass - but will require Keegan to have thick skin and ignore it.

My position has always been the same as Erik's (but independently), never have thought it the right way to do things.  Stretch spouting hogwash doesn't make it so.

I don't think that any golfer should have to put up with the post swing screamers in the galleries.  Give the players the chance to do their thing in peace.  If I was running a tournament, they would be quickly escorted from the property.  I may not like the anchored stroke, but until it is prohibited in the rules, I'll defend any player's right to use it.

However, I don't have to approve of Bradley's ridiculous preshot tango.  Even if he switched to a regular putting stroke next week, he'd still my on black list for slow play.

Two comments:

These drunks that like to heckle or yell stupid shit.....................get em off the course. Tell them to leave or a policeman will cite them for public intoxication.

Bradley should know better than to show emotion when these comments are made. It just adds fuel to the fire.

As far as anchoring goes, how does it help golfers? Is it possible to see results with Trackman on it? I think all the long putters should be banned. Make the max length of a putter something like 37" and leave it at that.

Yeah, my wife calls him a cheater for his infidelities too.  I call him a cheater for other reasons.  Remember when a bunch of the gallery rolled that big a__ rock out of his way.  Loose impediment?  Really! To me, that's cheating.  Maybe I'm wrong on this, I don't know.

Bradley Keegan, (just sound better) Isn't cheating, it's ridiculous to even imply that.  I hate the long/anchored putters, to me they just look ridiculous.  Just look at Adam Scott, looks amateurish to me and I think a crutch.  Just my opinion...

It's a reasonable question (ignoring that they're not banning the equipment itself): you could revert to a standard length putter, or you could use the longer putter and un-anchor it.

True it could be a reasonable question if asked that way. That has yet to happen it gets asked in more of a smartass haha what are you gonna do now type of way. I tell you its bad, even though its still legal people see it as outlawed already.

If someone views the anchored putter as cheating then clearly they aren't informed. The same way square grooves weren't outlawed until the rule book said so. Phil figured this out and was scoffed at fir being a savvy golfer. If you couldn't tell I think the rule change is stupid.

By definition of the rules he may not be a cheater but in the spirit of the game, many people consider him to be a cheater.  I personally think its funny that he is tired of being called a cheater.  Grow some thicker skin, Keegan.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
