  1. 1. Will Tiger win his 15th major at Merion?

    • No... Tiger hasn't played Merion before... So the journey for 15 majors continues.
      11
    • Yes... Tiger is a Slam Dunk to win his 15th major at Merion.
      15
    • Maybe... Even at 7-2 odds. I don't gamble.
      28

I'm geeked about the Open returning to Merion. I still remember... 1981

Why did I think you were a younger guy?

abc - Tiger Woods played a practice round at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania for the first time on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in preparation for the U.S. Open. An Action News viewer sent in these photos

cbs “Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, confirmed that his player made a brief stop in Ardmore, Pa., en route to defending his Memorial Tournament title. Woods teed it up in a practice round at the venerable track, which will host the year’s second major from June 13-16.” Golf.com noted that it rained for most of Woods’ trip and that, apparently, Woods is one of the few golfers who have qualified for the U.S. Open to take a reconnaissance trip to Merion. “How many professional golfers are going to slog through 18 holes when the course is sopping wet and the greens are nothing like what they will be come tournament time? Not many. One, actually, might be about it.”

Our posts are completely different. You linked to a CBS story, while I included pictures and news snippets . Relax, Ron Burgandy.. I wasn't stealing your breaking news.

Better than his chances of winning this week.  Seriously, he still has to be considered the favorite at Merion because of his overall game.  I think that his play at The Memorial is just aberration.

I used to caddie with the guy who had Trevino's bag in '71. Got the bag in a tottery and got rid of two years of student loans with the $3,000 Lee paid him.

And yes kids, in 1971 you could get rid of two years of student loans for $3,000.

Sounds like he got 10%.  If I remember correctly, Trevino got 30k for first, and Jack got 15 for second.  They showed the money leaders near the end of the telecast, and they were 1 and 2 for the season up to that point, and both were in the 140,000 range (Jack was up by like 9k).  By comparison, Tiger has almost 6 million so far this season.

Don't remind me.  I'm still bitter that my mother sold her 1967 Camaro - which she bought brand new for, I believe, less than 2k - so she could get a family car right before I was born (in 1973) ... otherwise, that baby would probably be in my garage right now!!!

My mother had a '69 Rally Sport convertible.  Talk about a car which was a chick magnet.  I was old enough to appreciate it, but too poor to consider buying from her when it was traded in.  When they bought it, my dad traded in his '65 Dodge Polara 2 door hardtop, forest green, with the 383 Magnum engine.  I actually liked that car better than the Camaro.

The groupings are not always like the OWGR. For example: last year, Tiger played with Mickelson and Watson for the first two days and Rory with Westwood and Donald (if I remeber correctly). Some other years it was like the OWGR (2008 I think).
