Why do they call golf "golf"?  Because all the other four letter words were taken.

Still lots of good first picks out there.

Tiger is locked up from +1 to -14, with 5 duplicate picks (and 4 inexplicable 2nd picks).

Graeme is taken at -13, -7, and -5 (with 1 duplicate pick).

Kuch is taken at -5, -4, and E.

Sneds is taken at -9, -8, and -6.

Rose is taken at -9, -6, and -5.

Rory is taken at -8, -7.

Strick is taken at -4 and E.

I'm surprised that there aren't more wasted Tiger picks--we're doing fairly well this time.  Looking forward to next weekend!

Since I know more people are still going to pick Tiger, I'll give you guys a hint: go higher, not lower. 15-under would be 265 over 72 holes, three shots less than Rory's record from 2011, and a full seven strokes fewer than anyone else in Open history. 2-5 shots over par is more plausible.
Sorry, Shaggie13.  I didn't look at other posters before making my picks.  At least our 2nd pick differs.
You're completely missing the point. Not only was somebody on the board with that score with your first pick, you used your second and third picks on players who multiple users have already chosen as their first pick, immediately after a post that summarized the players and scores already taken.

Congratulations, you wasted your entire entry!

Not that I don't think it is a noble cause (helping others pick correctly), but why even bother anymore?  The rules are clearly written at the beginning of the thread.  If someone can't take the time to read them, they don't deserve to win.

True, but for someone like myself, I didn't pick to win. I picked what I actually thought. If I win? Cool beans. But I'm not gonna go through every post to find out who or what score wasn't picked.

I never read ANY posts AFTER the 1st page of this thread.  Just because my picks has the time stamp after the summary, I can see your point and understand your angst.  But I honestly feel like Rose is going to win and just happened to like -5, and if I wanted to increase my chances trust me...I wouldn't have picked the same score as a previous poster(s).

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
