I live in northwest indiana,,a hour from ND..so enough said. But on a sad note...poor ole Purdue. The boilers are getting beat up weekly..

Happens when their previous coach didn't recruit well. Purdue lived on a few good WR's, some very good QB's, and good coaching. Now they have none of that. It's going to take their head coach a few years to get them built up again.

Sounds like the Irish before Kelly.

I'll be surprised if Oregon doesn't drop a game.  I'd put my money on Alabama vs. FSU, with Alabama winning in a route.

I've seen Oregon many times since they installed their Chip Kelly offense, and I don't think there's another team in America that can stop them (including any SEC team). In the past, I wouldn't have made that statement, but Mariota at quarterback adds a whole new dimension that they haven't had in the past. I would say that Alabama has more of a chance of being beaten before the BCS game than Oregon.  And, as a Washington Husky, it really pains me to say it. :-(

Yup very true. Mariota is the difference. And plus bamas defense would have been the one you would think could stop it but they are not as good this year.

I think too many people are making the mistake of underestimating Bama because they aren't as flashy as Oregon/FSU.  I know its hard to say the #1 ranked team is underestimated but I keep hearing people say Oregon/FSU would beat them.  The real test for Bama will be LSU.  After that game we will see what Bama really has this year.

I actually think FSU is better than Oregon.

I wonder if fsu vs nd might happen in a New Year's Day bowl this year?

Lol ... Are you talking about the nd that squeaked by navy yesterday? ;). Fsu can't play on New Year's Day while they are busy preparing for bama in the title game. (Or worst case, maybe osu in the rose bowl). If that happens we need some really rich guy to sponsor a game between those two winners sometime in February. Perhaps the weekend between the nfl title games and Super Bowl. ;)

God, I went to a Big Ten school, and I am a Big Ten fan and I wont believe that crap.

SEC

BIG 12

ACC/PAC-12

BIG 10

Is the Big Ten improving, i think so. They got some very good young coaches, and are starting to recruit more nationally.

Until the Big Ten doesn't end up getting whipped around by the few decent teams they play in their non-conference, they will be ridiculed. Basically they got to man up.

    • I don't really know your handicap, and this may affect things.  My advice if I were a caddy for a professional might differ. * Opponent is OB is great, but I think the right play in the first situation is to hit the longest shot you can keep in play, just as if you were getting two strokes here.  Can you keep your driver likely in play?  If so, hit it.  I am not a believer that fairway woods off the tee are more accurate anyway, at least for our level.  And at my handicap, trying something like "hit 5-iron, 7-iron" to imitate a long drive is just as likely to mess up. But I'm a generally accurate driver, particularly for my handicap. * Go for the safe target.  Opponents are likely to make par and unless you're dormie or near dormie, you don't need to win this hole.    No one at any level really makes 20 footers with any regularity anyway. * Accurate hitter goes first.  Once they are safely in play, again hitting the longest club they can likely get into play, then the bomber can go for it.  If not, the bomber has to put one in play.
    • Typically, when I golf, I am playing non-competitive rounds with friends or family, and focus on shooting as low a score as possible. Once a year, I have a competitive event with friends (mock Ryder Cup), where we play fourball, foursomes, and match play. There are some obvious situations where you make different strategic decisions than you would in a stroke play round (if your fourball partner is in for 5, no sense lagging a putt for 4, for example). I have a few hypotheticals below that are more marginal, curious how TST would approach these and hoping people might have others to think about. -Singles match opponent OB on a long par 4, standard play is driver but there is trouble both left and right -Alternate shot partner is a poor bunker player, opponents have a 20-footer for birdie. Flag is directly behind a bunker, safe target leaves 40 feet with a good shot -Risk reward drivable par 4 in fourball, general approach when one partner is a bomber and one is accurate

    • That looks to be correct by their website.  Cart fees are cheap. They really want people to ride 🙂
    • Yea, if you hit it to certain spots, you are just not keeping it with in 5 FT of the hole. It isn't like you can't stop it near the hole from other putting locations, but certain locations you are just screwed.
