Well yet again another rise in the index to 5.8, this however will most likely be the last increase for a while now since the next revision will only bump 2 revision rounds off and my recent scores look just as good and maybe a little better finally. Unlike last year when I ballooned up over 8, I think this will be close to my highest index for the year and hopefully with enough practice and lessons I can get to my goal of getting below 3 this year. . . lots of work ahead for me.

It's gonna be ugly on the 15th for me.  I'm struggling with my newish swing as a result of working with Dave and Erik a bit.  Good changes, I'm convinced, but still, 4 out of my last 6 rounds have been in the 80's, including one especially fun 85.

Won't surprise me to bump up over 6 this next revision!  I expect 2 more rounds before the revision but my next 2 rounds to "fall off" are a 77 and a 75.  5.5 and  4.0 differentials respectively.  I need a good round tomorrow.......

Yes. I often say that we make golfers better pretty quickly (within that lesson), but golfer's scores are a different matter: especially when they aim way right and are used to pulling things 40 yards left.

Keep at it @David in FL and you should be aiming in the proper place here soon… trust your aim when you get out on the course.

I'm commited.  Grip is feeling much better too.

But, while the lesson itself may have been "free", it's costing me a fortune in bets with my buddies!  I really need about another point on my index for a revision or two to mitigate the expense a little bit!

Fortunately I play a course with a high slope ratings 135+ so I can get away with some low 80's from time to time, and when I do get that round into the 70's boy does it get a low index, I don't completely buy that theory play tougher courses to get lower since most guys that shoot mid 80's everywhere else struggle to break 90 at my home course it's just so damn easy to get a triple or quad, and hell the 18 handicap hole is a 441 yard par 4.Maybe some courses get rated tougher than what they really are and that could be bad for the members.

Ugh - dropped 3.4 strokes index-wise over the last 2 months (4 course HC)

Not happy because the low man always pays out in our skins game.

It does show that getting fit for equipment can help - that and stealing a few tidbits of advice from this site.

What do you mean by 4 course HC? And the low man pays out in skins what is that?

My course HC went down from a 28 to a 24 (index and course HC are 2 different things)

My group plays skins - whoever has the lowest handicap always loses.

@jsgolfer ,

A course handicap is a calculation using your index to determine the strokes you get from a particular course.  You apply these strokes to the lowest handicapped holes.

I know how to calculate handicaps and what they are, just wasnt getting what he was saying about a 4 course HC, he should have said his course HC decreased by 4.

No problem, just the way he framed it looked odd to me. If I would've given it some more thought, I probably would've understood what he meant. But the lowest handicap losing in skins was what was really on my mind.

I really do not want to junk up this thread but all it means is that in MY group, whoever has the lowest HC always ends up donating. The guys getting strokes scam all of the $$$

Got it you play skins with HC, which favors the higher handicap. Back on topic.

I've played off scratch for around 30 years. I keep a HC for some events. Most games I play in keep their own HCs. I played in a real sandbagger game other day. Former pga tour pro there with 10 points HC he shot 89 that day. A solid plus golfer I know was getting 7 shots. He shot par until last hole then took an X. HCs are often BS. Vanity cappers with low HCs often cant break 90. Sandbaggers with 10 hc's are often scratch or better. If it wasn't for playing in usga events occassionally I wouldnt keep one. If a person is around their HC in a usga event, the hc is legit. If anyone is shooting 3 or more below their hc watchout he's often a sandbagger. A low handicap can throw up a big number any given day, so shooting over is no big deal.

Much easier to do when you roll it over in the fairway........
