What is it with these guys? Are they so worried about being in a female environment they try extra hard to look as if they are in control? Their swaggering and lining up and loud voices for the benefit of the cameras makes me ill.

I have to call shenanigans on this one, Shorty.  You actually think that the caddies are acting that way of the own accord?  That's a bit sexist, don't you think?  The implication is that these women are not in control of their own employees, and that they they don't ask them to help line up all of their shots and consult on the strategy.  That's silly.  Jessica Korda showed pretty clearly that she was in control when she fired her caddie in the middle of the US Open a few months back.

These are strong, successful, women.  No way that the caddies are not instructed by them to do that.  Heck, even a couple of the men are having their caddies do that now too.

I actually wish that they'd somehow outlaw that practice because it's pretty annoying and unnecessary (have you once seen a caddie say "nope, you're pointing in the wrong direction?") and does look stupid ... I just think it's unfair to the women to suggest that these men are doing it on their own.

Golfingdad, I am pretty sure that on the golf channel this morning they said it was actually Annika Sorenstam that got a hold of one of the caddies and told him to give the concession. It was right when I was turning it on, so I did not hear the entire bit, but this is what I think was being stated. The two ladies playing were really uninvolved spectators on the whole "GOOD" concession.

I have no interest in the other aspect of what is being talked about. Just trying to clarify the concession bit.

i heard Dottie Pepper is back in trouble for her comments...something along the lines of "I was right the first time- bunch of choking dogs"

LOL ok I made that up but it could be true!! this past weekend was an embarassment for the US women. They came off as weak golfers with little or no heart - in my opinion it was as bad as it could get.

This thread has been an odd mix of sexism and Cosmo quiz. Between this and the inane banter about flat brim hats, cargo shorts and bright colored clothes it appears some are more concerned about what others wear than golf. Maybe we could start a recipe exchange thread while we're at it.

You're right.  I am concerned that the American women cannot golf and also suffer from self esteem issues which is why they are caked with makeup and ridiculous clothing.  Perhaps showing up to an international competition IN COSTUME affected their performance.  They should take notes from the 17y/o amateur Charley who could play and didn't need to dress up like she is playing in the Sol-halloween Cup 2013.

But what do I know, I'm just a sexist white American male sipping scotch and bantering about golf crap on a golf forum in between beating my wife and kicking the dog.

I started a cooking thread on this forum. It didn't get much love. :-\

Hey come on now. I saw some of the Euro ladies with with flag stickers on their cheeks. And those god aweful short pants looked horrible, really bad. Like it made all of them look like gay female butch's. Well I know its the LPGA and probably 75% of them are indeed gay.

I wonder if Kelly Tillman and Stepanie Sparks had their own room at Colorado Golf Club. LOL Eeewwwwwwww I just threw up in my mouth.

And then it had to be determined whether Annika was "giving advise", because assistant captains were not allowed to do so. Although Lexi making the putt made it a moot point.

Nobody has any reason to be embarrassed. The team events tend to be about momentum and IMO the US team never managed to capture any. Sure there were some players that should have played better. But it is unfair to discredit team Euro by saying the US lost it. They played good and got some unexpected surprises from their somewhat unknown rookies. It may even have been an advantage. The media was counting them out of it before it even started. They had everything to prove and nothing to lose.

Back sportsmanship is what got me the most, it just shows the rest of the world what they all ready think, America is full of itself.

Golf is one of the last greats sports and our team did not represent America right very disappointing.

Oh well, I thought the Euro's were way hotter than the Americans during the Cup. But I watch it for the golf.

But I agree with you, the Americans had HORRIBLE sportsmanship. They would pick up their opponets ball marker if they made a putt, not as in a friendly gesture, but as in a "I just beat you now stick this up your BLEEP". Also, what's with the wild cheering for sinking a 5-footer for par, not even to win the hole.

Also, Michelle Wie. OH my jesus lawdy lawdy lawd. Don't even get me started on that.

That cutey Paula Creamer gets beat in Sundays singles competition by Europe's Charlie Hull then walks off green and signs her golfball for Hull - what a classy lady!

Actually I saw it the other way. Charlie Hull was endearing to me for asking Paula for her to autograph a ball. It was very respectful when Charlie could have waved her hands in front of her face"you can't see me". What was Paula suppose to do?

    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
    • So, Newey is out at Red Bull. Where does he go in a year? Is Max still with RBR in 2026? Hmmmm.
    • August 2010 Woodfin Ridge 18th hole Playing in a large tournament with a slew of friends and the last day was two man best ball. The 18th, when it was bent grass, was very fast due to a steep slope on the right side. I had seen many people over the years putt off the green from above the hole. I hit a great drive and 3W to 30’ left of the hole. With everyone watching my partner hit it way too fast and never high enough and his ball rolled all the way to the bottom of the green.  I hit mine much higher and the ball came to rest about 20” above the hole. Then it slowly started trickling towards the hole for a walkoff eagle! Nobody said anything except my partner who was yelling pretty loudly. I looked at the crowd and told them it was okay to clap because it was a great putt, and they gave me a bunch of polite golf claps and brought me a beer!
    • Day 127: 5/2/24 Stack Full Speed spectrum training session 6/24. Training speed was 5 mph higher than previous high, as was e-speed. Still not as high as I have done in previous programs, but just 1 mph lower. Battling through a neck issue, and possible trigger fingers. Happy with results.
    • Day 49. Played 9 from tees a bit beyond my comfort zone and was humbled. Hit a couple good shots so will take that at least.
