I think it's idiotic to yell that on every hole. I hear these lushes yelling it out on a par 5 tee shot. I don't like the get in the hole guy either.

These bozos yell it after every shot on the course whether or not the ball even has a chance to make it in...

Everyone standing around that guy doing nothing about it is equally to blame IMO.

The only problem with this is that usually the guy who does this is pretty drunk. I go to the Masters every year and if I were to get into some form of altercation with the get in the hole guy I could very well get kicked off the course with him, and that means whoever owns the tickets I'm using would lose their ticket. Not something to be taken lightly. You could report obnoxious behavior like this to a course marshal or rules official, but that's assuming you know without a doubt who it is. not always something you can say with certainty given the size of the crowds at a major tournmant like the Masters.

I think it's hilarious. I always say it after one of my friends hit a horrible shot.

I was playing last year at the First Tee of Augusta when it was very crowded (right after Masters week when all of our local courses are usually seeing higher traffic) and there where 2 foursomes in front of us. As one guy took his swing he almost whiffed the ball and it dribbled forward about 5'. A guy in front of us shouts at the top of his voice "get in the hole" a split second after the guy hit his ball. Everyone was stunned, not to mention the guy supposed to be driving (and there weren't in the same group). The poor fellow did it two more time before he mannaged to get a ball in play. After they left the get in the hole guy's son told his dad the guy looked pretty mad about the whole thing and the GITHG said he was just mad because of his lousy shot. I didn't say anything but I was amazed that someone could make such a total ass of themself in such a short amount of time...

You gotta love the guy who yells, "GET IN THE HOLE" on any hole that isnt a par-3.
Unless Jack Hamm is on the tee, it aint gonna happen.
IMO, anyone who yells things like that should be escorted off the course in a not so gentle manner.

To attend a golfing event you should do as the other do. At a football game people yell after each play. In golf you should yell only after a good shot. This is called "COMMON SENSE". Has the public lost common sense? Should we allow a couple of $%*@# to ruin it for the majority?

I go to the Masters every year

I think I just found someone I hate MORE than the Get in the hole guy

Ha!

That's about the only perk one gets being an Augusta native. Not that being a native means you get in, but chances are you know a lot of people who get tickets every year and everyone is real good about sharing for a day or half a day. There always has been a clique of Augustans who attend every year and congregate at certain areas on the course to hang out and party (the woods beside #16 with beer and concessions nearby). I'm currently on the waiting list to get tickets as they become available but that'll probably be many years in the future. I always enter the lottery to get practice rounds badges too (those used to be available for walk up ticket sales but they stopped that in order to limit the crowds), but I usually end up selling those if I get them. It's hard to turn down $200-300 for a ticket that cost you $30.

It grates on my nervers when I hears someone in the gallery yell this. I found it particularly grating hearing it at The Masters, which is supposed to be the class event of golf.

My opinion may not be everyone elses though, so what's the verdict? Good, bad, or don't care?

Anyone who does it should be immediately removed from the course.

There are plenty of other sporting events where drunks and idiots are welcome.

In my opinion, I find it hilarious, but distracting and unnecessary. There should be something done about it but I still find it hilarious. They'll be teeing up on a par 5 and you'll here it..... "GET IN THE HOOOLE!". I think it kind of loosens up the tight atmosphere.

I do things like that when im playing. If I chunk it, you'll hear me go "SIT. Sit down!" and if I hit it far past the hole I'll go "GO! go go go!!". Just some playful verbalization to expend the tension from a round of golf.

ROFL ...I think playing with you would leave me in stitches. That guy, that guy is a funny guy. On a more serious topic, I dont have a problem with it, if its happening a few times a tourney. The accenture stadium par 3 is the extreme i guess, where they yell "Tip your hat" or they boo you for not landing on the green. I actually like it. I dont want to see the wave in the gallery, a beach ball bouncing in the stands, or rabid fans fighting each other. As long as they wait until after a swing its ok, low class but ok. I voted against btw. After they are making tons of cash, they can deal with it. Its their fan base! Wait until Daly comes back..

I do not have a problem with the fans (or 'patrons' at Augusta) cheering great shots on the tee or on the green, but yelling "Get in the hole!" on the tee of all holes is just ridiculous. If a player hit a great shot on par 3 with a chance to go in it's fine, but otherwise no. I find the "You da man!" just as annoying. Again, if they want to yell it after a player hits a great shot, fine; but not on the tee just as the ball is leaving the clubface.

Anyone who yells that should be beaten about the head with an 8 iron, tarred and feathered, and then punished severely. Hearing some idiot yell "Get in the hole" is the golf equivilent of nails on a chalkboard!

    • Day 35 (26 Feb 25) - Day of easy work (hanging around the house as son had shoulder surgery and I needed to help keep an eye on him).  Worked on low spinner 50deg wedges - keeping the ball low flighted and checking quick.  Went with the 8i after to do low flighted runners.  Great visit on two ways to get the same/similar results.  May be able to get away tomorrow for a short 9hole round (as long as the son's recovery cooperates).....
    • Day 1: 2/26/2025: So, I'm starting over on this again.  My son brought home the mother of all flu bugs from school. It raged though our house and knocked me on my butt for about 3 days.  Now, that I think I'm clear of the death plague my son gave me. I was able to rise early this morning and get some nice mirror work in. I felt stiff like a board for the first few swings, but loosened up and was able to get at least 20 minutes of first robotic slow swings and then gradually more fluid swings.  My focus was on the timing and fluidity of my priority pieces.
    • I use a MagSafe connector on my tripod. Occasionally I use those clips.
    • Working on some swing videos. What are you guys having the best luck with as far as devices used to record the swing?  I have a tripod with a magnet that I stick my phone on but it is somewhat of a pain because I have to remove the cover on my phone and when I pull it off the magnet the tripod head changes and moves position. I was thinking something more like an ipad maybe. On a different style tripod and maybe even set it up to mirror to a tv.
