That band is a great aid for what your talking about. And the the elbows down is really the only way you can keep your forearms close together. This is in front of you thru your turn with your upper body. After that some separation where the ares go back further. Think of having your arms out in front of you and gripping the club with your hands facing down instead of up. Hope that makes sense.

You can see I retweeted 5SK DOI Dennis Sales' tweet. Funny. :)

Brandel is so proud of being ignorant

That is a very good way to put it.  I watched a good bit of this show, and while it may or may not be very informative**, it was mostly entertaining.

There was one part (at least) that fit your description perfectly.  Brandel made a comment (derisively) about how you need lag to create distance, and then laughed condescendingly, and followed it up with something like "isn't that what everybody says NOWADAYS?"

Regardless of whether or not what he said was accurate, he just seems to have a hatred (can't think of a better word right now) for advancements in teaching.  He sounded like such an ass.  I think he thinks that everything that ever needed to be known about golf was known by Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus.  There is no way that anything they thought thay did was wrong, and anybody who suggests there might be a better way is an idiot.

** I watch a lot of the instruction shows on TGC, but not really for any tips ... I just like to watch really, really good golfers swing.  It looks so gosh dang easy when they play. :)

I watched about five minute of his driver segment.  I liked what he was explaining about his grip.  I pretty much have the same grip now as well, so I thought it was interesting.  We changed the grip at the end of this past season.  I did not really ask why, I just said OK...hey if it works, it works.  Now I understand a bit more why it actually helps my miss.   I thought the show other than that was pretty mediocre though overall.

Too bad the Golf Channel doesn't see that..I noticed B.C. seemed to give the stack and tilt a little rub in his conversation with Paul re: being on your left side, maybe I was reading more into Brandel's speak than I should have. In the end, he really shouldn't be on t.v. imho.

I think he's fine as long as you understand he's there for entertainment.  He's there to be a little outrageous and ruffle a few feathers.  "Boring" people don't last long on TV ;-)

True, but his entertainment value in my book is about nil... :-D

Well played Erik...well played..LOL

Bah, I just noticed that I was either autocorrected to "area" or made a typo. Grrrrr.

I'm proud of my hashtags, though.

    • Day 51: Another long day, so another mirror work day. Again, focused on cleaning up set up and then not straightening the trail leg as much in the backswing. Need to feel like my knees stay a little more bent.
    • Day 595 - 2026-05-19 Got some short game work in today during some lessons. Made a lot of putts too. Without trying. Golfer kept chuckling.
    • Day 15, May 19.  Today, after work (in stages), I hit two dozen practice balls at home.  Slow swings, focusing on the lifting of the arms as per my latest lesson.
    • Day 259 5-19 Slow work on arms getting more in front. Lots of pause at the top, then rehearsals, then swing.
    • Day 70 (19 May 26) - weekly 9 hole session with my good friend this morning, however the better session was this afternoon with my grandson.  He put in for nine holes of match style play (we did stroke count as well).  The rules - I had to play from my regular tees but with irons only (no metal woods or hybrids (nothing with head covers)) while he played from the most fwd tees with his full bag.  Was a fun match and watching his competitive juices flowing.  He won the match 1/0 holding the lead as we tied the ninth.  Stroke wise it was a messy nine for me and he beat me by one stroke - not bad for a 10yr old.  Best of all - it was a dream session come true.
